So I played Freelancer when it came out, and I just loved it ... well, at least to some extend. The fixed economy and lack of support/additions from the makers just killed the game for me.

Now I've heard of a game from 2003, Eve Online, which has just released an expansion called Exodus.

So is it any good?

I know I must pay around 20$ so I have 30 day period of play. Are those 30 day of "ingame" play, or real world 30 day?

Also, do you think it's too much for such a game?

I've downloaded the game, and I'm gonna try it soon. Does it have a trial period? How many hours do I have with a trial account? Can I then extend the trial account to a payed 30 day version, or do I have to start all over?

Thanks.

1. Yes its very good, very different, and very very very pvp orianted either in combat, marketing or producing.

2. Its 30 real world days, you register and 30 days later the trial is over.

3. No, not that much, all the expansions are free and its constantly being updated (not fast enough in my opinion), and no game is as dynamic as eve.

4. In some places you could get a 14 day tril account like on mmorpg.com but I'm not sure that deal is active anymore. When your trial time is over you can just go into account mangement and pay for more time, month, 3 months, 6 months, a year. Trial accounts are no different from normal accounts.

if you got more questions then please ask

I can only see the prices in euros

1 months 14.95
3 months 38.85
6 months 71.70
12 months 131.40

you can pm me your email addresses and I can add you to the buddy program for a free 14 day trial

The trial is a 14-day-trial, as longer trials have the potential of affecting the EVE world economy due to what we old players call alt-mining-account-syndrome

This is a no-hassle trial, so you will NOT have to enter credit card information to start playing - just the CD-Key. Then when the trial ends you will be able to start your subscription and retain your characters. No need to go through all the steps again.

Can you add multiple people to that program? My wife and I might be interested...

Hi, i have played eve online for about 2 years now and can say that all the last remarks are correct: There are 14 day trails, and when you buy a account/create one you used to get 30 days free after which need to be paid.

In eve you can do alot of things, the creators are driving the game towards a high player run economy. The current economy is atm i estimate at 80% player ran, blue prints, trade goods which NPC stations need are still sold by NPC's. But other than that it is mining ore from asteriods for minerals to produce items such as guns, ships and other items.

Currently i am not interested in the game anymore, due to the reason that updates/context are released slow, but the game itself had enough content for months discovering, finding out and exploring eve. And when you are done with that, you can always go PVP.

PVP in eve is unique, you gain from others their death, but the pvp system is setup that people can have safe places to avoid pvp. From which i heard eve has 7000 solar systems, and personally i believe that 25% is pure pvp oriented.

PVP however is not something that you can do right away, sure you can go pvp when your character is not developed and mean something to the pvp forces. But when you want to pvp it takes about 3-4 weeks training pvp related skills till you got the basics that assure you to make a diffrence.

PVP in eve however has been the only gaming experience where i have been fighting so intense that i was sweating and screaming from adreline.

oh I know that feeling, even though nothing happens, no shots fired, just the intensity of the possibility of battle is overwhelming

I always loved a good space sim, and I tried EVE but it didn't work out for me. There are two major problems in my opinion of EVE, which made me decide to quit..

1. It's time-based skill system. No matter how hard you play, no matter what you do, you gain skills at the same pace as anyone else. This is especially harmful to new players, because you'll never ever catch up to people who joined before you unless they skip training. These skills are so important in the game, you may wind up spending the first month or so just logging in to change what skill you're training then log off because you really can't do anything else worthwhile. I understand some people may love this, and it indeed has it's merits... but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I find it a poor design when you can either fight pirates all day long or mine asteroids and you'd be learning a gunnery skill at the same pace...

2. It's travel system. Systems in EVE are connected by these short star lanes, which are navigated through jump gates. You will have to go through these jumpgates ALOT... it becomes so monotonous that it really tests the limits of your sanity. You have autopilot but it doesn't help because when you use autopilot you have to first warp through the system towards a gate, then there is this long drawn out approach to the gate then finally the gate jump itself. It takes up alot of time .... They may have changed this recently though, but I already failed the patience test. I had to resort to placing bookmarks like 15 km beyond a gate so that when I travel to the bookmark I end up right on top of the gate so I can jump immediately. It saved me time but then there was so much manual labor involved.

ANyway, those are my opinions and I just wanted to warn you ahead of time. Though you should definitely give the game a try.

Do the trial invitations expire? If so, I will send you a PM when my machine is working properly again, rather than now. I am hoping to have things running smoothly by this weekend, but I cannot promise anything.

I would say the PVP environment of EVE is the best in any game. Being chased by pirates is exciting.

Druid,

You should be able to download the client and install it whenever. The trail emails should include a link to create the account, but if not you should be able to create account from the cd-key included.

Reply if you need more trail accounts sent your way.
