I was there the day Jita, Amar, Rens, and Dodixie were on fire... I was there the day CCP killed EVE.

Just checking, largely people are saying eve is doomed because they think they are going to start selling items for real $, right? any other reason?

That and CCP has become so out of touch with their player base it is a bit unnerving.

Yup, I always pick female characters. I figure if I have to look at a fake person it should at least be easy on the eyes.

And that's what I loved about EVE. I didn't have to look at a poorly modeled person with awkward animations, I got to look at a spaceship flying about.

I need to find more games (other than X3, just don't like that game) that offer free form spaceship flying...

Well, read my posts a while back on C3 drake fittings and you should be fine if you have battlecruisers IV and the primary shield skills to IV or V.

Thanks, that was a pretty useful post. My question is though what happens if the Sleepers start to nos you? Won't you be screwed once you run out of cap?

Nope, at worst you turn off one of the invulns. If you have close to perfect cap skills (forget the names of the two, but the one that increases cap recharge rate at V and the one that increases total cap amount to IV), you should be cap stable even with their neut'ing/nos'ing in that fit.

Edit: Also forgot to mention that the fit is also mostly for passive regen rate, which isn't affected even if you are capped out, but the invuln fields are needed for the spawns when you get 3 BS's (at which time they will neut you pretty hard, but you should last long enough with the neuts and your shields to kill one of them before your tank fails).

Ok, yet another question for those with experience. How profitable are low-sec missions compared to high-sec? I seem to recall reading that you earn significantly more loyalty points running missions in low-security space.

Well, my corp just moved out to do this very thing a few weeks ago (when we left wormhole space). While I have yet to really start doing it (lacked the standings with the corp they decided to run, it is also in null, so even higher LP boosts), 2 others have been making out pretty well. That said, you really need to pick the corp that you run for very carefully. The increase in LP that a lot of people have been getting (due to all agents now being quality 20) has driven a lot of the item prices down.

There are a few that still work out well, but if you are soloing it low or null for missions you better have a lot of blues and protection around in the systems you are traveling/missioning in, otherwise you will lose a lot of ships.

FK:

Thanks again, you've been a great source of information for me!

My corp has a pretty secure area of low-sec space, so I'm not too worried about getting bounced by pirates. I certainly don't want to run missions full-time, but I'm hoping that low-sec missions can become a convenient source of revenue for when I'm too lazy to do any exploration and want something safer than wormholes. I'm also curious to see what L5 missions are like.

L5 missions are pretty much mass neut/nos ships/turrets. You need a dedicated tanker with a passive tank (as he will get capped out), and there are really just a few true options for those dedicated tankers (look at battleclinic for them). Typically you will want to do it in a group of 3 or 4 (one dedicated tank, and 2-3 dps).

Are L5 missions a viable place to use carriers? Hope that's not a naive questions, but I have no experience with L5s or cap ships.

Sure, you can do L5's in carriers. I, personally, do them in 2 BSs (hospital Domi and an Abaddon [2 eanms are all the tank that's needed]).

112 pages about EVE. Not surprised.
I thought it is a more or less an ordinary game until I tried it a few days ago. Game of the year to me.

Three kills in one night

Admittedly one of them was only a crappy cyno kestrel but still, it's good to get back into PvP.

First kill in a long time.

http://diplomaticdisruption.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10205287

I almost felt guilty popping a guy with such a fail fit but hey, he should've learned.

Nice job. I always enjoy hunting down people to kill. Doing it solo is especially exciting, but unluckily in my position I can't go solo very often. But I get enjoyment out of taking fleets to kill other fleets too.

I haven't played in about a week now, but I will probably play this weekend. I have some plans on getting some interesting fights in the coming weeks.

Thanks. I felt a little bad about leaving our corp's area to do my own thing, but I've found that Genesis is pretty devoid of worthwhile solo targets. I remembered that for some reason the low-sec legions of Lonetrek used to have a lot of people running low-sec missions, plexes, etc, and sure enough the targets were there yesterday. I'm guessing it's the proximity to busy high-sec regions that makes for a lot of loners and newbies? If things continue at this rate my security status will be in the toilet in no time.

The biggest reason is actually because we live there. We kill around 1000 ships a week, which makes the area pretty inhospitable, and when someone does try it out they usually die (meaning they aren't likely to come back). So going to other areas makes sense, which is why I often roam 15 jumps in various directions looking for kills.

The main reason I dont' go solo very often, is that I am expected to lead fleets and help the other alliance/coalition members get kills and good fights. I am considered the primary FC, so everyone wants to defer to me when it comes to PvP action (say if a large fleet comes by, I have noticed that we won't go out and kill it unless I put the fleet together to do it.) Although I haven't played in a week, and Michael may be playing again after his move, so he may be organizing those fleets now.
