I've been playing for about 16 days. No clue what I'm doing, lost 3 ships already and only made about 150M isk. :/

Been trying to read up but I get lost pouring over all the info. 'lot different than wow.

That's a lot of isk for only 16 days at the beginning. I had nowhere near that much at the beginning of my Eve career. Unless times have changed, you have done a very good job at working out a way to succeed financially in Eve.

At the same time it has been more than 2 years since I have played more than a few hours in a month, so I haven't kept up on changes n the economy. Also, I cannot leave low-sec since I have a security status of-9.4. So I live off of what I can find there. For the most part, I just reuse old ships and components that I had accumulated over the years I played.

Interesting. How'd you make your 150M?

The starter missions got me about 4M, couple a million in minor trash drops, one sansha trash dropped a tech II implant I sold for 21M and then I mined the rest with a destroyer and procurer.

Edit: Also, is it normal for station load times to be about 30-40 seconds?

I didn't know there were T2 implants. Everytime I hear about this game, there are new things that I learn about.

150 million isk in 16 days.

Who the hell gave you isk. It took me about a month to get my first million.

Of course I ran about 10 missions at most at the start of my eve career, but 150 million is a shit ton for a 16 day char.

Maybe T2 is the wrong term I'm using? It had the little orange triangle withe the II in the top corner so I just assumed that meant T2.

With the Procurer I can pull in a good 6-7 million isk worth of ore an hour mining. I guess I was a little loose with the 150M isk number. Most of that is currently in ore assets sitting in a station. Value is roughly 110M as is but I'm hoping to squeeze a little more out with a higher refinnig skill.

I don't think so. Takes like 5 seconds for me, maybe 10 at the very most. 40 seconds, I'd check your computer to see if something's wrong or if you have too many programs running in the background or something.

My character's 6 days old now, and I've made a few million isk total, though I've also spent most of it (mostly on skillbooks).

I was originally going to specialize in mining, but a good friend of mine who plays EVE convinced me not to. So I'm doing exploration/scanning instead. Scanning/astrometrics was hard for me to grasp at first, but now that I'm more proficient with it, it's far more interesting. Can't say he was wrong. Going back and doing the mining missions, I would've gotten bored with the game extremely fast.

I actually have perfect refining skills with my alt. If I remember, I can have him head over to where you keep your ore, and refine it for you. Just send me a PM if you are interested. I don't play much, but refining is quick and easy, so I wouldn't mind doing it.

I bought the game with the Steam $5 sale and have been checking it out. I've tried to play before but lost interest, probably because I didn't join any interesting corporations. I'd like to do that now, and do pvp, so I'm skilling towards Interceptors and Assault Frigates.

Maybe see some of you guys around?

Battlecruisers is actually a better goal to start PvP. Frigates are only useful for PvP in nullsec do to the gate guns.

Battlecruisers eh? Well, I suppose I can start looking at that too. Advanced Frigates and BCs are both a ways off, really.

Might try to join a pirate corp just to see some action if I get bored of grinding missions.

I should have perfect inefficiency by this weekend for my current ores but thanks for the offer.

He could just join a faction warfare corp or RvB. Since the FW changes the last few months have seen a pretty massive amount of frig/dessie fighting. Hell, take a look at some of the top killing corps/alliances on BC.. FW is busy.

If my memory is correct ichy use to be in and around the Lonetrek low-sec. Might have moved...

Hmm, a bit far for me to roam out that way (I'm pretty lazy). I spend the vast majority of my time in The Bleak Lands, Devoid, and Heimatar with some quick trips into their outlying regions.

Lonetrek. My home system is Nalvula which is conveniently full of low-sec mission runners

Ahh yes, if I recall correctly there is no way to get there from genesis without crossing highsec. Otherwise I wouldn't mind parking a few ships to hunt some mission runners.

Is there anything that makes these regions unique or attractive besides the security status?

The different corporations/factions that reside in them offer different rewards for running missions with them. Some are a lot more useful than others, and some offer interesting market niches that people have carved out (like Angel Cartel and cynabals (ships/blueprints)). But the biggest draw to certain areas are the locations of things like L4 or L5 mission offices which can lead to some nice targets in low sec.

Oooh, gotcha. So, if I were interested in flying missile boats and maybe some Amarr ships (just the frigate classes) is there a particular corporation/faction it would be great to earn LP or standing with, or would it be better to just make money and buy what I want?

I'll pick everyone's brain all day if you let me. I appreciate the info too, as always.
