If not in my corp, a couple of the other corps also have a core of miners.

SunnyD - No need to be good at PvP (we'll teach when needed). All we need is the willingness to come fight when required.

daishi5 - I'm on USA Pacific Time now, I'll reply once I'm home and logged into the game.

Well... that's the other thing. I'm not good at "requirements". Part of the reason I never did a guild in WoW - I'm not logging in on Tuesday at 6:42pm exactly on the dot just to be part of some "event" because someone says I have to be.

If I'm there, not terribly busy with something, then I have no problems doing what I can to get into position to help. I have 4 kids and a wife which come first.

Not sure what happened, but the lady from the sister of Eve suddenly wrote me an e-mail saying that I wasn't quick enough for her; even though I didn't take the mission from her yet (I had completed one for her about 8 hours before I read the e-mail, but I really don't know what happened). It stopped right after the "Royal Jelly" mission.

I think it is just a bug, but now I guess I am ready to move on to the rest of the game.

It looks like they fixed this in the current patch (based on the release notes). I stopped home at lunch and started downloading the patch, but it is going pretty slow. I won't be able to check it out until I get home from work this afternoon to see if it fixed the issue.

I did go back to the Sisters of Eve, but I am really SOL about finishing the Epic Arc. Is finishing the Epic Arc important in any way? Should I petition CCP to let me finish it, since it was a bug that I got kicked out of it, or is it not really important/usefull at all?

That is the trouble with 0.0. You can sometimes travel for hours without a kill.

I am just glad that I survived the trip. I was suprised that I made it through the point where that ships friends came in to help. We only had 2 BS's, 2 cruisers and one interceptor against their multitude of battleships and I believe a carrier. Not entirely sure as I ran as fast as I could. I did get hit pretty hard before I got away, so maybe they forgot to scramble me? (or they could have just let me go and it was just the gate guns that got me.)

It was fun anyway, although near the end it became tedious as we went through empty 0.0 system after empty 0.0 system. It was very well organized though, and that made it fun. We all had our role; I was generally the bait

Hey I was wondering if a skill in training stops if its still going when your subscription runs out.. does it? My semester of school is coming to a close and I was thinking of skilling up heavy missles to level 5 but it'll take 18 days and I figured I could take a break from Eve during that time.

It used to not - that's how people would ghost train obscenely long skills - queue it up at the end of a month sub, wait until the training finished and then resub. It was like that for some 5 years (since launch) until CCP magically decided "it was an unintended bug this whole time (which we knew about and let people exploit up until we decided we need more $$$)".

I believe they changed it so that the skill will still train for a few days after your sub expires, I've heard 3-5 days before it stops.

Once again on the "you need uber skill points to PvP".

Martimus has less than 2M skill point and has been with us less than a week and has 6 kills already. It really is matter of a corporation that knows how to give everyone a role.

I have a question. I have been doing Gallente Missions pretty much since I have started, and I am starting to build up a sizable negative standing with the Amarr. This is a problem, as my Corp is in Amarr space, so I don't want to have them start shooting at me on sight. My question is this: Is there a type of agent I can find that won't give me missions that will hurt my Gallente status? Could I do courier missions for the Amarr, and that wouldn't hurt my Gallente status? I just want to raise my status enough to not have to worry about them shooting at me; but I don't want to lose the Gallente status I worked so long to gain.

You don't have to really worry about negative empire standings until they reach -5.0. My Gallente standings are attrocious at -4.8, and I have no trouble at all going through Gallente space to grief mission runners.

Since you only have 2 million skill points, I just don't see how it's possible you have lower Amarr standings than that.

Edit: Since you can even think about doing Amarr courier missions, that tells me you're nowhere close to having to worry about it. Gallente agents won't touch me with an imaginary 10 ft. pole.

I had read that they start to shoot you on sight at -2.0. I know that you get shot at with that security rating, so maybe I just confused the two.

Security status is different than standing with Empire factions. I just turn down the missions that involve you shooting Amarr ships and it works out fine.

Before I learned Diplomacy I had -3.4 or so with Amarr Empire and some NPC ships out there did target and shoot at me a few times. They are relatively weak though...

Now i'm back to -1.7 (with Diplomacy III) and I can now take mid quality missions from Amarr agents. I'll be sure to avoid doing anything to piss Minmatar off though!

Along this same line though, I have a question...

There are two ways to affect standing:
1. Destroy ships. 2. Complete missions. Am I seeing this correctly??

Also, it seems to me that you lose standing with an Empire by destroying ships, and that you lose standing with a Corporation by completing missions???

Standings with Empires are only changed via the special missions (you get one about every 12 regular ones you complete), destroying their ships in missions, or attacking their faction ships (including allies in factional warefare).

No idea why you would have been shot at with a negative faction standing higher than -5.0. That shouldn't happen.

You only lose standing with a faction by destroying their ships, so running missions for Gallente shouldn't affect your Amarr standings unless you take missions that require you to destroy Amarr faction ships.

Here's a good resource to help you understand how the standings system works:

One other thing to watch for is that if you get negative standings with a given corp, your refine/reprocess tax goes through the roof.

The Sequel to the Ever Popular Clear Skies Machinama, Clear Skies 2, has finally been released.

Watch Clear Skies 1 on youtube before watching though. Its an amazing piece of work and I daresay the best machinama out there.

While I do agree that Clear Skies is awesomesauce in nearly every way, you have to admit that the voice acting in the second iteration is as ridiculously awful as it was in the first one. Still, as an amateur effort, it is near awe-inspiring.

I thought it was pretty good. At no point did I think that the voice overs were so awful that I just couldn't get into the story.
