You're probably right. I do find it somewhat amusing, but at the same time I feel kind of bad for them.. yanno?

Maybe I come off as a bit self-righteous in the PvP front but I was a n00b being picked on once, too, and I remember how much it sucked. It made me a better player to face hardships, but I don't expect most to have the tenacity that I do.

Isn't the point of war to be the one left standing in the end? Honor be damned...

I think I'm done. I just lost ~100m isk of my own money and ~400m isk of my corps money to some suicide ganker in Jita (cargo loss). I don't have the time for idiotic shit like that.

d'oh

So you were transporting 500m isk of stuff in Jita in a ship flimsy enough to get easily popped? You might as well have painted a target on your ship... To be honest, you deserved that.

EVE is a harsh world.

See, that's just dumb. High sec space, concord all around, THEY should have been popped as soon as they targetted me. They had no kill rights, no war dec, nothing. Nobody should be ALLOWED to sit around within 2km of a station running a cargo scanner all day long.

Jita has VERY fast Concord response. In order for you to get killed by a suicide ganker one of two things happened. One, they had more than one person and were able to one volley you. Two, you had one incredibly flimsy ship. Sorry bud, well known thing that's been going on in EvE for ages.

My friend got me into this a lil bit ago. He recently had to leave to go back to the middle east (in the military) and gave me a ton of stuff. Been loving it. Even have a few accounts now for making money and for the other fun stuff

If anyone is interested in trying the game out, I can send you a 21 day trial, if you activate your account fully I'll give you 200 million ISK to say thanks cause you will also be giving me a free month of play.
If you are interested shoot me a PM with your email and I'll send you one.

It is funny, but after losing a Thorax and Brutix in rapid succession, I ended up using the insurance money to buy a myrmidon fitted for running missions. Now I can AFK missions and make 5-10M ISK per mission, and I no longer feel broke all the time. I have effectively found my way of supporting my BC sized PVPing. Now I just need to train up BS skills to I can run a Mission fit Dominix to do the same with L4 missions, so I can support BS sized PVPing.

Now I just need time to actually play the game. Too bad my house still needs a whole lot of work.

No new stories to tell about Eve? I look forward to my daily Eve type posts here, but no-one has posted in a while.

I have been using a thorax exclusively for PvP fighting over the last 2 or three weeks, and I have found a fit that really matches my play style well. So far, I have around 20 kills with it, and haven't died yet. I am now experimenting with 5 Vespa EC-600 drones to replace the Hammerhead II's, but my DPS has pretty much been cut in half and I can't seem to kill anyone before they get back to the gate if they have a BC or greater.

Right now I use:
5 x Anode Electron Particle Accelerators
1 x web
1 x Warp Disruptor II
1 x MWD I
1 x DC2
2 x EANM2
1 x 800mm Plate
1 x Med Armor Repper II

5 x Hammerhead II's or 5 x Vespa EC-600

Adding that 800mm plate has saved my life probably a half dozen times so far. It lets me get a point and lock someone down with gatefire and survive long enough to get repped or have one of the bigger ships get a point so I can warp off.

I find it funny to read for of martimus' older posts and look at what he is doing now:

The Killer

I've been out in 0.0 for the past few days trying to camp some people out of an NPC station. Lots of carrier docking games.

Piddling around carebearing it up. Got my Orca, started a second account and got him into a mining barge. So now... I sit around mining veldspar all day long. What a life. Exciting isn't it?

I quit - game just isn't my style at all. I guess I have far too little patience to deal with the intricately slow combat system.

yeah. I started the game with the Idea that I would be a miner. I did nothing but mining and industry skills for the first two days. After the second day, I realized that mining is mind numbingly boring once you get past the initial excitement of learning to fly and checking out how your ship works and what-not.

After mining, I got into industry and that was pretty fun actually. Well, maybe not really fun, but interesting at least. Watching mineral prices and finding something you could make at a spot where you could make a good sized profit before anyone else sees it is a little exciting, but can be frustrating too when others finally find your gold mine and ruin it by heavily undercutting you.

Next I got into missioning, and that was fun. I find it a little monotonous now, but it is less monotonous than ratting, and I can mostly do it in high-sec, and AFK when I am doing something else.

finally I got into PvP. This was actually a little boring at first, as there is a lot of roaming or waiting, and little action. But now, it is very fun for me. I have learned a lot of the tricks as to how to find targets, and how to exploit their weaknesses. If it weren't for my sec status, I would be doing this all the time.

Anyway, what I am trying to say is, if you are getting bored with mining (which I don't blame you if you are), try buying some cheap PvP ships (the Thorax I mentioned above costs less than 10M ISK, yet has 400DPS with my skills, and nearly 20K effective hitpoints (10,000 actual). go around and get in some fights. Your heart will pound, and it will be exciting and fun; even if you lose. Just make sure to jump away once your ship blows up, so you don't get podded. I have taken the strategy of finding a celestrial object on the overview, selecting it, and spamming warp once I get into structure. So far it has worked every time as I have yet to get podded.

Wow, I wouldn't think anyone would say the combat system is slow. Most fights last less than 10 seconds.

If you do decide to play again, try flying smaller faster ships.

I think the problem is more that some people want a "button mashing" game, and Eve isn't that.

This is what I try to avoid. Call me boring. And honestly, any loss is a bad loss (to me).

k, I guess i'll try to explain further, since this eve fanboy had to start throwing insults.

EVE's combat/control system is unique, i'll give you that much..
I suppose slow isn't the right word, since it is fast paced in some ways. It's too...cold for me, maybe that's more accurate. Didn't seem to be a way to put emotion and feeling into combat, which is what I expect out of multiplayer gaming. It was far more often a case of calculations and rock/paper/scissors equipment match ups.

Combat just felt too clinical and robotic for me. of course that's perfect for a sci-fi simulator

I agree with you in the PvE portion. But I don't quite agree when you talk about fleet warfare. So many strategies are available and are used, and you need to think quick on your feet to counteract whatever strategy they use. Maybe they cyno in a triage carrier? Suddenly their fleet is nearly invincible, unless you neut the carrier. ECM, range, speed, energy neutralizers, heavy tanks, hit and run, etc. are all effective strategies that are used very commonly, and you need to properly diagnose the battle as it is going on and counteract it. It seems pretty emotional to me in these situations, at least. but fighting rats, or even fighting an enemy that refuses to change his strategy can get cold and emotionless as you just beat them down over and over again.

Hey I just noticed that I am top scorer in the corp for this month:

http://chainofchaos.podzone.ne...id=1&view=pilot_scores

Probably since of the 7 kills I have, 5 are battleships and one is a heavy Interdictor. All in my little Thorax. I love that ship

Malladine - I find the PvP fairly exciting and voice coms in small gang and fleet fights certainly interjects emotion into the fights. Some of it does come down to what group you fly with and what their style is. We do such a wide variety of PvP against so many different groups that we never get bored.

I'm always having fun in my cov ops. Pisses so many people off that I just slide right by, have even teased a few of the same gate camps a few times for some laughs hehe

But been really busy with my trader since I gotten mine freighter a couple of weeks ago. Been making a killing and watching the isk pile up is quite a bit of fun in itself as well as market pvp

I plan on creating a Trader/hauler alt within the next week. Any tips on how to get into the trading business?

Save up for a freighter.

This pretty much. I have a miner character as well and between the miner/hauler I was able to rake in a lot of cash plus some smaller scale buying and selling.

But once I got my Obelisk, man the cash flow really kicks up to another level.

Biggest advice I can give besides get a freighter, is too start taking notes of different markets and see what has a high sell rate and start comparing to other areas. Selling popular pvp ships near more active 0.0 space can net you some real nice profit if you can dual box you can scout out ahead of your freighter for entering into low sec and the jump to a station as well as leaving. Late night when the server is close to going down or right after it comes back up are probably the "safest" times to do it.
