So the alliance I'm in decided to declare war on a macro mining corp that's been eating up the minerals at one of our corps' home systems. We all got together and unleashed thousands of rounds into their POS, which is now reinforced until tomorrow. While on my way back to pick up things I stumbled upon the corp's CEO warping in circles due to a failed macro. Podding him was fun.

Now we're trying to locate his clone and see if he macros out into space without an updated clone (we haven't received any word from them during the past several days and counting, they must be on vacation or something...). Oh how I would love to take all his skillpoints away...

If any newbies need help or experienced people want to graduate to the endgame, feel free to pm me here and i'll send you my ingame name. I'm pretty broke but i'll do what i can.

my alliance has three teams, 'atlas allaince' which was a thrown together b team, 'blanket' or some crap like that which is the team we bought first for the tourney, and goodfellas, which is half tri half atlas.

the main 'atlas' allaince team got creamed right away (2 ships just flew out of bounds to start the round , the other two teams did much better

Started playing again last week. Have a Thorax cruiser kitted with blasters and medium drones (BLASTERAX FTW!). Mostly mission running. Gotta make an executive decision about what sort of tanking I'm going to pursue, and also find a decent corp for economics and mission-running.

Just don't shield tank that Thorax, lol.

Most of the best PvP ships armor tank, while most of the best PvE ships shield tank. So it is up to you which you would rather do. Although, to armor tank properly, it doesn't take a whole lot of skill points. You can get nearly a perfect armor tank in around 1 month of training. Not sure how long it takes for shield tanking though, as I haven't really trained that except on my alt, and combat is a low priority on the training list for him.

Let me know if you are able to pod him again. This is an interesting story to me at least.

quick question - how you gather your ships into one location? In another word - what is the best way to do it. Right now I undock myself from my current ship in station. Used the cap pod to travel SLOWLY to a different system. Pick up the new ship and fly back. Is there a better way than this?

If your ships are not rigged, repackage them and put into a freighter and move all at once. If rigged, an Orca can do it. In low sec/0.0, carriers move ships.

The other option is to sell the ships, move to the new place and buy more.

We've located his clone but he has not set foot out into space. Not long after getting podded he went offline and has not come back on since. Ah well it's his loss, his POS will go down tomorrow.

Splurged on a myrmidon lastnight. I dont have the skills for T2 gear yet. Total was about ~35 million. It is overkill for level II missions but hoping to be into level 3 soon thanks to the advice to level up the skills social and connections.

Highs:
Salvager I
Salvager I
Tractor Beam
Tractor Beam
Medium NOS
Medium NOS

Mids:
Cap Charger I
Cap Charger I
Cap Charger I
Cap Charger I
10MN Afterburner

Lows:
Medium Rep I
Medium Rep I
1600 Rolled Tungsten
Armor Hardener I(type depends on mission)
Armor Hardener I(type depends on mission)
EANM I

5x Hammerhead I
15x Hobogolin I

Lots of frigs in these lvl IIs. Tempted to try sentry drones for lvl 3s. I have heard they are very nice.

I was wondering if I should switch out the 1600 plate for another active hardener? Maybe drop the EANM for a secondary hardener as well? Does it make sense to run two active hardeners of the same resist? I look up the resist information before I run a mission. So I know which hardeners can double up. EFT shows with T2 hardeners I can attain some insane resists. Near 85%.

first hardener give 100% of stated effect, second is like 85%, third is 58%, fourth is 24% 5th is 5%

dual hardeners are just fine

Genx87,

Duel reps are certainly not needed for level 2's and probably not needed for level 3's. I also generally don't fit salvagers and tractor beams on my mission runnign ships, I prefer to make a destroyer special fit for that (bookmark the mission spot and come back once completed).

Hardeners stack, but with a penalty. so 2 of same resist is pretty good. 3 you start getting a much smaller benefit.

The 1600 plate give you a buffer for messing up.

Make sure you go to www.eve-survival.org before running a mssion to get the right strategy for it.

Same set up as me, but I use a Drone link augmentor to add range to the drones (74km right now with my skills) and a 250mm railgun to get aggro (so my drones don't get shot at)

Sentries are great for range. You can insta-pop frigates who are 60km from you, but once they get in close, they really lose effectiveness (or at least bouncers do.) also they aren't that usefull for non Dominixes, as they have a 25Mb bandwidth each.

waaa? my charisma is like 3. Should I even bother with social skills at this point? I didn't know that my low charisma would bit me.

ohh and if anybody has some spare isk please send them to "filterdecay" I has a plan to pay you back or something

I am doing it for the increased standing gain from missions.

Yeah, this ship is complete overkill for lvl II's. Though lastnight for the first time I actually had to do 2 rounds of a single repper. 3/3 of some mission that had about 20 frigs come at me at the same time. Im hoping to get into lvl 3s soon.

I have toyed with the destroyer idea. But I am not entire sure, at least for lvl II's if coming back in a destroyer would be faster for me. Especially on missions that are in different systems. I let my drones kill while I salvage during the fight. We will see what happens in lvl IIIs.

I have a question about Eve (it might have been asked, but this thread is 44 pages long!)... how do we find out what are the best items in terms of effects, dps, etc...? I have a few ships and either fly a Coercer or an Omen (saving for a battlecruiser now) but I know they are equipped terribly. Are there tools that show if an item I pick up could replace one I have or what I should buy? My weapons on the cruiser for example are all small even though I think it has medium slots but I can't figure out what to buy! Same for mid and low slots, I've no idea whatsoever to stick in there so I go with items I'm sure are completely worthless like expanded cargohold...

I'm almost done my free month and feel like I know nothing. I have little playtime so typically do a couple of missions then just park a Sigil next to ore and mine until I can check and move it to another ore. <--- Is that frowned upon? I've been doing it but don't know if they expect us to sit there for hours mining.

For missions too, how do I know what is a level 1 mission compared to others? I've just been doing whatever ones I was offered.

The learning curve on this one seems to take ages. I've been staying in the same 0.8 to 1.0 system since I started and am sure I'm completely missint out. My typical routine is a couple of missions + salvage then go mine somewhere to make money.

Another thing, should I keep all the junk I find from ships or turn around and refine or sell it? I have so much crap accumulated at the starting station in Deepari... why do I need 20 Civilian Shield Booster 1's?? But they aren't worth much else anyways... some stuff is worth more (some of the salvaged goods for example) but I've been hoarding like a pack rat in case I find out later I need all this junk.

One last question, is a sigil at 3000m of storage with 5 expanded Cargohold II better than something like a Retriever with 2000m of storage but only 4 low slots I think... it would have less storage but does it mine much faster?

ARGH!!... I admit it, I am a total newbie even though I've played nearly a month. I haven't even spoken to another player, I just play it as a single player game as my playtime is so limited. I just figured out last week I had to train the learning skills to increase my attributes! And I just figured out this week I could bookmark and asteroid so I didn't have to land 100Km away every time!

Dont feel bad. The learning curve in EVE is really tough imo. I say your best option is to cruise their website www.eveonline.com. Especially the forums. You can learn a lot about the basics by visiting the forum.

In the forums there is a thread about a program called EFT. Which will allow you to equip ships and see their attributes based on what you equip.

Mission levels are based on the agent. Mikus Aronie LVL I quality -15 Means he is a level I agent with low quality. Quality I believe runs between - 20 and 20. As you gain standing you have access to higher quality and higher level agents.

I usually sell anything items I get off ships unless it sells for 20+K. Then Ill reprocess it and sell the ore.

I have been playing about 1 month a year for the past 3 years. I usually lost interest due to the learning curve. But I decided a month ago to give it a legit shot and it is actually really fun.

Do you know how funny it is to get msg's from people who see your avatar is 3 years 1 month old? Then you have to inform them you have 3.5 million skill points? lol
