As a general point, Myrmidons get no bonus for guns. I actually use arty instead of rails as it uses no cap.

What's the best site or mod to use to fit a ship to make sure what you are planning to use doesn't go over the Power Grid or CPU maximums of the ship? Is it EveMon?

So I ran into lvl 3 Blockade the other night. What a doozy of a mission. It basically forced me to spend cash and get T2 equipment.
I now have T2 cap chargers, armor hardeners, drones, and armor repairer.
Current Ship looks like this
Myrmidon
Highs
Salvager
Salvager
Tractor Beam
Tractor Beam
250mm Rail Gun I
250mm Rail Gun I
Mids
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II
10MN Afterburner I
Lows
Medium Armor Repairer II
EANM II
Mission Specific Harder II
Mission Specific Harder II
Mission Specific Harder II
1600 Rolled Tungsten
I just started working on my gun skills, but taking a small detour to finish out my T2 medium drone skills. Also seriously debating getting an alt that will follow me and salvage in something like a destroyer or something with a lot of capacity and at least 4 turrets.

The Caldari missile boats are supposedly the most uber for PVE. If you want to be the absolute efficient for missions I think the Raven is supposed to be tops. Knowing that, I still went down the drones path and currently fly a myrmidon on my way to a domi. Drones + defense for me.
It all depends what you want to do with your character.

nightmare is the top end npc ship, but the raven/golen/cnr is in (a distant) second.

Last time I looked it was also around a billion isk for a nightmare while you can get a CNR easily for around 250 mil. Don't get me wrong I'd love to get a nightmare but I'll make do in my CNR in the meantime.

It only took one day of killing two battle ships, two Battle Cruisers, two pods, and a shuttle to go from being able to enter 1.0 space to being an outlaw. I need to spend some time ratting to fix that. The funny thing was that I started the day ratting to gain security, and targets just kepts coming around that were too tempting to pass up.
Oh yeah, I killed and podded a Ferox pilot the day before, which is why I was ratting in the first place. So it took two days of regular play, without ever camping anything.
Oh well, it was just too satisfying when that Abbadon warped to the belt I was ratting in, and targeted me from 50km away. I figured he was sniper fit, so I warped off and warped back at zero, pointed and webbed him and had him half way through armor in my Thorax before any help even came. I should have just gone for him alone, but I didn't know he didn't have a web fitted until after I called for backup. I then podded him for having the audacity to steel my BS rat spawn, and trying to scare me off by targeting me.
Later we found a few Hurricanes about 10 jumps from our home, and we gave them their first ever PvP action. They were both fitted for PvP, and gave a good fight. It is nice to see people get over the fear and try it out, with some more experience they will do better. They convoed us afterward and thanked us for the fight.
On the way back home, we came accross a AAA Megathron. He took my Brutix into half armor, but he went down as well. His fit was curious though, as he had all medium support fitted, and faction EANM's, but only fit Heavy Ion Cannons in his highs when Neutrons would have obviously fit. Whatever, he died too.
Finally, I started ratting again to help with my security status again. In one of the systems, I saw an AFK pod 12km off the gate. He was so far from home, I decided to help him get there sooner. He now has a fresh pod, and is back in his cozy home station instead of out in the middle of cold space. That service set me back again, so I continued to rat.
The next system had an AFK shuttle sitting on the gate. That shuttle didn't have a pass to loiter in our space, so I removed it for him. Again, this did not help my standings.
It always seems that when I rat, I lose more security status than I gain. Maybe this was why I stopped ratting for a while and started doing missions. I don't have that option anymore, and I can't enter the space where I can actually do missions. Oh well, more ratting, and much more self control will need to be in my future.
Uh oh, looks like CVA got disbanded in the same fashion as BoB. Claims of metagaming and account hacking and so forth are going around, so it'll be interesting to see how CCP reacts after investigating. In my time in game I never had anything to do with CVA (I was once in an alliance that was briefly allied with Ushra'Khan, but that was years ago), but wish them the best.
Martimus, will your sec status go up if you're in a fleet with somebody running missions?
Oh, and I bought a 'Phoon. Can't fly it yet. Broke now, too.
CCP has reinstated them as an alliance. It is a pretty dumb mechanic to allow pushbutton dismissal of an alliance though. I don't think highly of the CVA, but they are usually nice enough to donate high value BS kills to my killboard.
Not everyone realizes drone boats are dangerous to small ships. Besides, frigates are so utterly free why not try it and see if you're AFK or a 3 week old BS pilot?
You are right, they are cheap ships. I was just surprised that they engaged me, as I couldn't see how they could hope to win.
