A quick question on what to fly next. By this Friday I will be finishing cruiser IV. This will let me take 2 path. Train up BS or strategic cruiser for missions.
1. BS path, I will have to learn a new weapon system which is torp/cruise missiles.
2. SC path - I will have to learn cruiser V which will take over half a month, but then I don't have to learn a new weapon system. Currently I am using HML on my Drake which I could use on SC while I take my time learning HAM.

BS pro/con - drone skills are weak. Not very flexible. Cheaper. Could use LP to get CNR if I want at later day.
CS pro/con - expensive. more gank worthy. but very flexible.

Is this for mission running or PvP?

If for mission running, work on your BS skills. A Raven is a very good ship for level 4 missions and level 4 missions generate a lot of isk/hour.

If for PvP, I tend to advise getting very good at flying a BC while slowly raising your BS skills in the background. Caldari is not the most amazing race for PvP ships. You either fly ecm (and get primaried) or fly a torp raven for DPS (and get primaried as you have high DPS and a bad tank).

^^ One of the biggest rules in EVE: don't fly what you can't afford to lose, because you will lose it. (Sure, mission running ships are generally safer, but you never know) Hell, I won't even fly a BS unless I've got say.. 500mil ISK spare.

Not a bad idea. A fully fitted Tier 1 BS usually costs around 150M ISK. So before you ever fly one, you should have that much in you wallet for when you lose it. (Insurance will pay about a third of that, but costs ~20M to buy). You never know when you might lose a ship, so I always saved up enough to buy two ships with fittings before I ever bought a ship. (Now it isn't as big a deal, as I have some ISK stored up from doing L4 missions before.)

Let me know if you want to join us now that you have resubbed. This last month has been a very busy month for PvP, as we have killed around a dozen capitals including a Mothership. I know that I recorded 44 kills in just November. That is after only recording 100 the previous 7 months. Of course I am nowhere near the top of our kill board, but I wanted to say that there is plenty of action to go around lately.

Yeah fortunately my 7mil are fairly tightly packed into flying Amarr pulse boats so it works out ok. Tho I have been running cheap 2 person roams with my buddy, his Vexor and my Arbi.. pretty fun actually.

Thanks for the advices. I am going to train for BS next for missions running & focus on cruise missile skills first. Torp damages are great but its short range gives me pauses. Maybe I will train them after I get more conformable flying a BS.

I have played this game a whole 15 minutes since Dominion came out (and that was just because I waited out GCC before I logged off). Anything cool gameplay wise that you have noticed in Dominion thus far? I saw the new graphics, and I can no longer run the game at high graphics level (since my computer sucks), but I like the way it looks. The sound effects are much better too (although I can see them getting annoying after a while).

Has anyone noticed a difference in Cosmic Anomalies, or rat spawns, or combat in any way? I noticed that when I went to kill a Rupture, I had a beeping sound when I went into armor (which is nice as it reminds me that I need to turn on local reps). Anything you guys have noticed?

I created a new trial character, and have been running through the tutorial missions... It's been fun, but now I have to wait about an hour for Caldari Frigate lvl 3 to complete so that I can get a ship strong enough to kill the NPCs in "The Exam". My Condor isn't cutting it...

I'm debating whether to resub or not, or just sub this character, or do nothing

Depends what you're using them for. Some of the alphas are absurd.

I found an Ashimu BPC on Saturday, and I am considering using it to make the cruiser instead of selling it on the market. It looks pretty bad ass, with a 100% increase to laser damage, and huge bonuses to Neuts/NOS and Webs. It would be a small ship killing machine. Only problem is it will effectively cost me 300M for not selling it on the market.

While on this subject, I have noticed that deadspace plexes are a whole lot more common since the 1.01 patch. I have found 2 in two days (6/10, and 4/10 blood raider plexes), and I have looked a whole two times. (so 100% success rate thus far) This is after finding a 2 DED plexes in about 2 months previously (and that was a 3/10 plex and a 5/10 drone plex) after dozens of scans. Anyone else notice this increase? I like it, as it means I won't have to worry about seccing up to run L4 missions. This may be temporary, so I plan to milk it for the next few days if I can.

Another day, another 6/10 plex. So far, in the three days after the 1.01 patch, I have run three 6/10 plexes in my home systems. This is after only running 3 in my previous 7 months in the alliance. While I only probed out one myself, (I also probed out a 4/10 plex, which netted me a 200M ISK module) I have never had this kind of luck before. I have a feeling it is a bug, and that our system is being populated with the plexes that the 0.0 systems with upgrades are supposed to be populated with (since there is a big bugalo about them not working properly). I am not complaining, but I will try to milk it while I can. If I play my cards right, I will have enough ISK to buy my freighter by the end of the week, and still have a healthy balance left for PvP.

Thought I'd pipe up: battleships are currently *cheaper* than free. Almost every battleship can be bought for under platinum_payout - insurance_premium. So long as you don't rig it, insure it and blow it up before 12 weeks pass it's going to be cheaper than a free rookie ship! If you build it yourself (with PEV) from materials and BPCs you should even be able to cover a basic fit while still "free."

Drop by the trade forum on eve-o or scc-lounge chat, you can probably find someone to provide battleships of your choice for a million or two under insurance payout.

Yup, I predict battleship insurance payout is going to be the #1 moneymaker now that the FW mission cheese is finally fixed. I'm pulling in about 30 million/day from one production slot and one BPO (others are used for t2 production). Takes about 15 minutes total. And oh yeah, resubbed again. I have no willpower.
