So I take it there are better options than Eve-University? I figured it was about time I get to finding a new corp, and was hoping I might be able to be lazy about it and just join an established newbie one - like Eve-University.
Eve-U may be fine to join. I don't have experience with them other than seeing them on occasion through low-sec, or seeing some ex members in low-sec. I can tell you one thing, they don't know how to PvP effectively in low-sec. Even their ex-members are very bad at it.
I did try to join them before I joined my current corp. They were in the middle of a war, so I couldn't join. Worked out great for me, as Michael recruited me, and now I am in Chain of Chaos, and have a lot of fun playing.
I have to admit that I enjoy PvP more than any other aspect of the game, so the other things in the game are just prep work so I can fight more battles. I do enjoy running a 6/10 plex with a couple friends to get isk, but I will pick fighting a real player over a plex any time of the week. So my opinions are skewed more towards PvP than many others, and you may find other things more enjoyable.
EDIT: I guess it depends on what you want to get out of your corporation. If you want to learn to effectively PvP, then Eve-U is definitely NOT for you. In that case I would suggest joining an established pirate corp, as that is what they do. I am in one and could bring you in if you are interested. If not, I will give you some suggestions as some of the pirate corps are not worth joining and may be detrimental to your PvP development just like joining Eve-U would be.
If you want to join a corp where they help you to learn the ins and outs of different Care-Bear activities (missioning, manufacturing, trading), then I think this is where Eve-U shines. I don't know this for sure, but they have to be good at something if they are such a successfull corporation.
