I'm getting close to training Signature Analysis to Level 5. I originally did it so that I could fly logistics ships, but I realized that this'll also allow me to fly the Rook and/or Falcon recon ships. Any advice on whether they're actually useful/worth the money? I've offered to bring my much cheaper Blackbird along on corp roams, however the consensus seems to be that a ship like that is just too fragile in the face of gate guns. Are the Tech 2 ECM cruisers any better?

Falcon used to be a *mandatory* gang ship, now IMO either the blackbird and scorpion are a better choice. Neither falcon nor rook are durable enough to justify a ~110M (fitted) price tag. If you fit one to tank 300 or so dps from gate guns you won't have useful jamming power (and die to enemies), and popular jamming fits have 10k ehp. Before the nerf a falcon could jam from 90km away, so gate guns and enemies were far less of an issue.

You can also fit a drake for ECM. It's a shocking surprise to be jammed (or disrupted) by one -- since nobody ever primaries drakes you can definitely ruin an FC's day with an ECM drake. With good skills you can permajam at least two of anything except Gallente BS and still be durable enough to survive. (note: 0.0 experience here, not sure if this is viable in lowsec).

The Falcon is still very useful, you just need to get off the gate once the engagement is over. You will probably have to throw a plate and resistance mods in the lows, which will reduce your ECM effectiveness though. I like having them as counter ECM to keep the Scorpions from jamming us (since the Falcons have faster locks, and can jam the Scorp before it can jam them).

Beyond that they make good scouts, like all recons do. The Scorpion is about the same price (rigged and fitted), and can be insured, so it is often a better choice if you think you might lose it, plus it can have an adequate armor tank. (Falcon can as well though.)

armor tank the thing. Ask around in the chain there are some pretty good fits. Honestly for the small gang I think it would be cool to try the drake thing. Sure its a lol fit but still.

I'd created a second account with the free 21-day trial, but spent most of that time just training up his learning skills since I couldn't use the free account at the same time as my paid one. Now that I've reactivated him I'm trying to train up his scanning skills as quickly as possible. Fitting a probe launcher on a Drake required too many sacrifices, so now I'll have one character to fly a scan ship and another one to fly a combat ship.

Wow, those are some awful fits. Even for a supposed RR/spider tanking gang. As a fairly loyal Amarr pilot, that Geddon fit just makes me hurt.

I am min maxing a covert ops>transport ship>trader>freighter pilot now. Shits taking forever. lol. my skill plan just for the baseline crap is 99 more days and hes been going for probably 80 days doing station spins in jita. All of his learning skills are 5/4 and +4 implants across the range. I'm waiting another 2 weeks or so to do the first remap into per/wil and sit on that for a while and do a final remap into int/mem for the long haul.

I never did bother putting in +4s for him though. He still ahs a set of +3s.

Yeah and i was gonna drop him in the same corp as rich. My other alt is in the "other" corp that isnt "part of" the alliance but she is only focused trained for 2 days for a indie.

It takes a while to get skills really high, but you can train up a useful alt pretty quickly. It'll be at least another week or ten days before mine can fly covert ops frigates, but he can already fly a Tech 1 scan frigate which is a huge improvement over a Drake that I had to abuse badly in order to squeeze in a probe launcher.

Yep, I have a good fit for an Imicus with a MWD, Expanded Probe launcher, and a Point. Good for hero points until you get there with your combat ship, plus it carries 3 drones for DPS, or ECM to make it less likely for retaliation.

I have no fucking clue why people are transporting PLEXs. I was surprised they even added that functionality to game .. I suppose so idiots like this could lose easy money? Mind blowing ..

They added that ability because the added checks on items when people undocked to look for a PLEX in the cargo was slowing down their servers. I think people are just stupid to move them anyway, there is ABSOLUTELY NO NEED!

Running two instances of EVE at once on my computer really seems to slow things down. Any advice on getting better performance while dual-boxing?

What sort of machine bogs down with 2 clients? I ask because I was able to run 3 on an X200 IGP on a single core sempron 3200 with 2gb RAM and it was usable, if not pleasant.

Low detail, turn off caching, turn off bloom and shadows. Reduce resolution. That should do it. On a machine from 2006 or newer you should have no problems whatsoever.

My first Freighter kill. He was reported about 3 jumps from our home, I went in found it at a station, it warped to a POS, and I waited in a Cov Ops until it warped to a gate, we caught it and popped it.

The only things that dropped were three empty freight containers though.

Congrats on the freighter kill. I've been pretty inactive for the past week or so (darn real life getting in the way!) but at least when I get back into the swing of things my alt should be very close to being able to fly a covert ops frigate.

Nice. Just remember you need Covert Ops 4, and Cloaking 4 to be able to fit the Covert Ops cloak and an expanded probe launcher.

A director by the name of "Bad Bobby" ended up getting full voting control and wiped it clean to the tune of 850b (as in billion) isk. This is enough isk to play the game for free for 211 years. I finally had some EVE time yesterday and began playing around with my scanning alt. My original plan was to head to 0.0 for some PvP, but I ended up scanning down several hacking and archaeological sites and earning a whole bunch of isk. This may be the most lucrative source of in-game income I've found so far.
