Re: bad bobby scam. I have no idea why anyone would be dumb enough to *INVEST* in an outfit headed by a guy who yarrrs a lot. Hello. The whole point of playing Eve is to make OTHERS CRY. Why bother bowing up rifters and caracals in belts when you can steal hundreds of B with a scam and make thousands cry at once?

Hats off, a bigger scam than eve bank in the current investment climate is truly a labor of love. A trillion ISK scam is the next milestone.

Battle cruisers are the new win.

We were just hanging in our low sec space and chatting on vent when one of our pilots came on and dragged me down to a private channel. He asked me if I wanted to help a blue POS that was being hit. I asked what the opponents had, and was told 10 BS and a few carriers.

I looked at the small BC with logistics gang we had formed and said, sure what the hell.

We burned 7 or 8 systems and landed on them with our 15 or so man gang.

http://nawti.evekb.co.uk/?a=kill_related&kll_id=1565828

If I had not been a complete idiot and fed our other basilisk pilot cap, I probably would not have died and the Rook would have lived as well. They were stunned as our small fleet tore through them. One carrier did get out. They were stunned that we ripped them up so much with how little we had.

The blue carrier only came out at the very end. And was not in our fleet so wasn't passing out reps. The guys we killed were stunned that they died so fast and that we took almost no losses.

That looks fun. Maybe I should get into suicide ganking in highsec.

Oh there was nothing suicidal about this. I stole loot from his mission wrecks, which allowed him to shoot me without getting Concorded. Most mission runners are smart enough not to take that bait, but he did and began shooting. That allowed me to warp away, come back with a PvP ship and gank him.

The guy I ganked looks like he was the perfect example of someone who went out and bought a Raven as soon as he'd trained Caldari Battleship without training his other skills up to an appropriate level. A co-processor and two power diagnostic systems? Seriously? I also don't know what's up with his mix of active and passive hardeners, or with the artillery on a Raven.

Yeah, I know that it wasn't a suicide gank on your part, but any PVP in high sec would be suicide for me. I am at -9.75 after two days of ratting dropping from my previous -10.00 security status. (Of course I have killed another ~20 ships and maybe 5 pods in that time, so it is quite an uphill battle for me to gain security status).

I was just saying that it sounds fun, and I would like to try ganking someone in highsec. I would need to plan it out quite a bit though, as I have to work quickly before CONCORD kills me.

Too bad the golden age of suiciding is past. I haven't logged in except to swap skills since the insurance nerf, really.

As far as negative security rating ganking: you may want an orca pilot to eject a ship for you, which means BC or smaller. Not going to suicide much with that.

Oh, and artillery on a raven: why not? You've got 2 spare slots, it uses no cap, so if there's powergrid left over might as well add a tiny bit of DPS. I managed to squeeze 2x1200mms IIs on my raven fits back in the day, but I also had superb gunnery skills from flying minmatar. An extra 30 dps is an extra 30 dps.

So I thought that scanning down radar and magnetometric sites in 0.0 would be fairly easy money after my experience last weekend, but apparently I got very lucky then and good sites aren't as easy to find most of the time. I'll probably stick with that for the next week or so though until my alt can fly a covert ops frigate, then I'll head back to my corp's area of low-sec. Having a scan ship is nice, but until you can fit a covert ops cloak it's kind of limited for PvP.

Well, the next level of suicide ganking though might be stealth bombers... About 30mill to buy/fit should be able to get 2 shots off in lower high-sec systems

So, after being rather disappointed with the F2P update of LOTRO, I'm thinking about trying EVE again for my MMO fix. I've been away from EVE since about 2007.

Problem is, when I left I didn't expect to come back... and I game my main characters to a corpmate at the time. He's since left the game and passed them on to someone else... IOW they're gone out of my reach. I'll have to look at my remaining chars when I get the accounts reactivated, but I don't think anything is left but a few researcher/hauler type alts.

Soo, I'll probably starting from scratch for a combat character. I'm just not sure I can take months of carebearing or mission grinding waiting to get back into the fun stuff. Any suggestions?

Heh. I've heard this story a million times, but I don't think you're limitted to just mission running. If you can get into contact with anyone you know still playing you might be able hook up with them, if not I think there's been some open invitations made in this thread.

You also have other options like ninja salvaging, which requires very little SP, while waiting for your character to get the skills you want. It can be quite lucrative. If you're patient and left your accounts with enough ISK you can just buy a few months of time with PLEX and then only log into update your training queue as necessary.

Whatever you do, do the tutorials first. They've improved them alot since you played, and they're the best way for a returning player to get reaquainted with the game.

They haven't done any character purges, have they? I have the right username/password, but the account management wants me to enter a character name before it lets me in, and it won't take any of the names that I *think* should still be on the account. I sent a ticket to CCP, hopefully they won't take a week to respond. I went ahead and made a new trial account in the mean time to start relearning everything.

if you want to make a new new trial account I will buddy invite you and give you 50 million isk if you buy the first month. As an aside you get 21 days free instead of 14.

CCP really needs to add the training queue/skills into the my account features so that you can just do it from a browser.

I swear half my corp seems to be having others in the corp logging in and queue their skills for them since they are out of town and shit lol.

Hmm... the account management page doesn't ask me for a character, maybe that only applies to old inactive accounts. Although that would be kind dumb as people with old inactive accounts are the least likely to remember the names of their characters. In any case, no, as far I know no characters have ever been deleted for inactivity or anything like that. I have heard that there's been issues with database corruption that have caused characters to get lost though. You can check to see if the characters are still there in game using People & Places.

Turns out the characters I was thinking about were ones I'd given away.

Anyway, kudos to CCP. They answered the petition this morning, had me answer a few questions then sent back a quick reply with the info I needed to get into the accounts.

I did have a character with some worthwhile skills that I'm gonna pick up with. Has most of the learning out of the way and a decent start in gunnery/projectiles, about 3 mil SP total. I'm still trying to figure out why I left the guy parked in Branch with a set of +4 implants.

I downloaded the ISK 2.0 guide, I'm hoping it will catch me up on most of the major changes in the last couple years, now just off to read it...

would be extremely useful...or add longer training queues. i mean you can cheat the queue as it is now...but the fact it has a time limit is crap. if it were like civ, where you pick a skill you want, say caldari bs 5....and you have caldari frigate 1....buy all the skills at 1 point and have it train them automatically for you. instead of having to log in and train the new book.

Longer queues are a double-edged sword. I queued up some 25 day ones after some short ones, didn't log in for a few weeks and had two accounts expire. Including the one with a few tens of billions of ISK.

No big deal, it's not like I've been doing anything but logging in to queue skills this year.

Training for a covert ops frigate takes longer than I thought it would...

I think I'm almost done looking for hacking & archaeological sites in null-sec and will soon head back to my corp's area of low-sec. I didn't make the kind of isk I was hoping to earn, but I do have enough that I could lose several dozen well-equipped Drakes without worrying about it. I've started to add to my industrial and research skills since I got several T2 blueprints from some archaeological sites that I ran.

Unless you're thinking about becoming an industrialist you're probably better off just selling those T2 blueprints and spending the SP on skils you're actually going to use. SP is much more valuable than ISK in EVE. Also given the competive nature of EVE's enconomy you'll often make more ISK by selling stuff rather than using that stuff to manufacture other things if you don't have excellent skills.

I decided to dabble a bit in manufacturing just to try out something new. I know that might be foolish, but right now I've trained pretty much every skill that I actually use in PvP, and the cost of moving to capital ships is too much for me at this point. I guess I'll have to crunch the numbers to see if this is a total waste of time.
