Why don't I ever learn? I just got off the phone with Dell to confirm that they CSR (yesterday) upgraded my order to Next Day Air. After waiting on hold forever, I finally talked to someone who said there's nothing mentioning an upgrade. Great. So I ask her to please upgrade to Next Day for me, and see if it's positively going to ship out tomorrow (12/28). I also mention that it should be a free upgrade. I wait and wait, and she finally comes back.
CSR: "I've fill out the form to upgrade you shipment to Next Day Air....It will mostly likely cost you a bit extra for the upgrade"
Me: "Well, I'm sure it's free. If you're on the internet, I'll show you where it is"
CSR: "I'm looking at it right now sir, (she then reads the first page of the Dell Home page that says free ground shipping)"
Me: "Wait, I'll show you (I then procceed to show her by putting it in the cart and estimating the shipping)"
CSR: "Well, sir, I know that ground shipping is free but Next Day Air is always more expensive"
-at this point I get that sinking feeling in my stomach, whenever I deal w/ Dell's "Support"-
CSR: "Sir, I will go ahead and upgrade you shipping and it will be reflected on your account"
Me: "Uhm...it will be free right?"
CSR: "Sir, I will upgrade your order, and it should be reflected on your account. If there's any trouble you can always give us a call back"
-at this point I start to feel woozy-
Me: "Okaay....is there anyway to confirm that it's in stock and it will ship out tomorrow?"
CSR: "Well you put your order in on Sunday (12/23). We didn't do any processing on Monday or Tuesday. So your order went in on Wednesday, was processed, and should go out tomorrow."
Me: "Well, I had some friends who put there order in on Sunday and have gotten their order already. I just want to make sure that it's not on backorder or anything like that."
CSR: "I can't speak on behalf of your friends' orders, but it looks like it will ship out tomorrow. If it is on backorder, you will get an email letting you know"
-at this point my love-hate relationship with Dell loses all the love-
Me: "You know what? Can I just cancel my order? I think I'll just buy it from somewhere else. How long does it take for the cancel to go through?"
CSR: "It could be up to 96 hours for a cancel to go through"
-I'm thinking, you can charge my credit card in seconds, but it takes 4 days to cancel an order that hasn't left yet???
CSR: "Let me transfer you to someone who can cancel you order for you. Is there anything else I can do for you today?"
Me: "You can't cancel my order?"
CSR: "No, I'm going to have to transfer you to our.....blah blah blah"
-at this point I am passed out on the floor clutching my phone-
Me: (weakly) "Whatever, I just want to cancel my order"
I am on hold AGAIN....for a long time. I finally cancel my order. She asks why. I say, just because.
I've ordered from
Newegg.com for $160 shipped. I spent $4 more, and didn't get those headphones or joystick (both of which I would have given away). BUT, I've ordered from a company who's customer service has been stellar and I've never had any problem with them. This way I can support a company I really like, rather than one who keeps on giving me headaches. I loathe Dell. If anyone sees me ordering from Dell, come over and shoot me, because someone has obviously taken over my body to place orders on my computer.
