You can't open up the 80 Gb Maxtor item page to see it but if you search Maxtor and get all 11 drives listed you can still click on the add to cart button. It's just the item web page that won't open. Goes in the cart for 139.94.

Since you have to add a 10 item to get to 150, minus the 30 off 150 coupon gives a 120 total plus around 9.90 in tax (at least for CA). Get your 40 rebate and you've spent 90 for a drive plus whatever 10 item you picked. The newegg drives are OEM which isn't a big deal except retail gets you the hardware (ATA 100 IDE cable and brackets and software). The Newegg ball bearing drive is 110 shipped and the liquid bearing drive is 112 shipped. You save 20-22 by getting the Staples drive assuming you don't have to pay tax to Newegg (only to CA, like me).

I got the error message a couple of times, but I finally got the order to go through. Got a bunch of glue sticks and glue to get: $150.44 - Coupon $30.00 - MIR $40 = 80.44 + tax with free shipping.

Until someone can access the Maxtor 80 Gb item page on Staples, I can't tell you. The Maxtor part # for the ball bearing drive is 6L080J4. The part # for the liquid bearing drive is 6L080L4. The "L" in the part # denotes the liquid bearing drive.

Well, I jumped on... I will now have a total of 230 GB of storage between my 2 computers.... And 2 switches...

Oh well, for 89 bucks after tax and rebates, this is not a bad deal at all!

The deal worked for me. Staples site is acting kinda quirky though. It wouldn't let me search for products, so I had to descend through their catalog.
Then I could add the drive to my cart but I got an error if I tried to look at the product description.
Definitely a twitchy site.

I've hard problems with staples site too. I couldn't even view the drive, I think they are trying to thrawt online purchases of the drive fearing too many coupon based purchases.

Maxam's link above worked great for me though, I think it kept me logged out, then I added it to cart, logged in, and it was in my cart.

Thanks maxam, as finding the product manually w/o a link wasn't getting me anywhere.

I bought the same drive a little over a month ago, and that one has a ATA133 card. The new one I picked up from store today does NOT have a card, but they are otherwise idedntical (same model/UPC/spec). Although you should be able to tell whether it's a ball bearing or fluid mechanism drive from outside of the box (P6J6L4 vs. P6L6L4), but the last one I bought turned out to be a ball bearing drive even though the outsided box indicates it's fluid. The new one I got today also says fluid, but I have yet confirmed it (still debating whether to keep it).
