Thanks to an additional $100 IR the 3GHz (runs at 1.8GHz) 3140 can this week be picked up for $1449.99-$250 in two separate MIRs - I know there is a similar thread but it deals with the e-machines lappy that was available for $1249 in very similar spec.

I believe a 3000xp runs at about 2.2 GHz

The mobile 3000+ runs at 1.8ghz whereas the desktop Barton 3000+ runs at 2.16ghz.

EDIT: Whoa cancel that. Was looking at the Mobile 64....

If I understand this correctly then the prcessor really runs at 1.8GHz. AMD however based on their infinite knowledge of processed word length (64 bit), cache, pipelining and other aspects, combined with their marketing department decided to call this a 3000+ processor, to allow consumers(i.e. not anandtechers) to easier compare it to PIVs.
