I did tonite, and couldnt open any of the properties boxes to even re-enable them. Thought for a bit I would have to reinstall windows to correct it. But I found that in the recovery console there is a ENABLE feature that allows you to re-enable those services. If you cant remember what you disabled you just type in listsvc and it will list all the system services and thier current status. You then follow the directions to re-enable them and that saved my bacon tonite. Just a tip for those Win2k users who try to optomize a tad too many services out.

i always thought it was better to not disable the services but to set them for manual. by doing this they won't start when the computer comes on, but if a an app/hardware device/etc needs to use that service it will get started when needed. whereas disabling a service can put you in a bind if you need it and can't access it. again this is what i thought the difference was, although if this is incorrect i would appreciate some enlightening.

Guys, in my experience the most important thing with services is the "dependencies" tab. Check those before changing any of them.
