ALL OF YOU GUYS must hand in your gamer cards now. that code is not JUST for Contra. it is for quite a few Konami games. I remember using that code in Life Force as well to get the 30 lives to start with. There were also other Konami games it worked with ...

now for you OTHER gamers, what game was this code FIRST used for?

down, R, up, L, y, b, start

and what did it do

I don't think there is a start key on the PC.

I was wowed.

We had an program that would run for ~6 hours, parsing through ten years of data during that time. so I rewrite that beast and it gets done in ~15 minutes at the end of the week. that was one of the few times i was overly excited about my code.

Street Fight 2 for SNES... do it when the game first starts and it does that like musical sound. Allows both players to pick the same character, with alternate color/clothing scheme. Splash screen turns to a blue background instead of black...

for the record though.. 8 bit NES > * ....

I think I remember this code making Street Fighter 2 turn into Championship Edition or something like that.

One of the first projects I did at my job was to rewrite an Access 97 app. It was originally written to use keystrokes to automatically enter data in the corporate SAP system. When we got permission to use an automation component provided by SAP, I had to completely rewrite the app.

To upload one day's worth of data, it originally took 45 minutes and my new version took about 1 minute. Everyone in the shipping department loved me.
There was nothing special about my code, it was the difference in the way we connected that allowed it to be so much faster. But I still got credit and it was really nice to see such a big improvement.

did you push the data from an access table to a table in SAP?
