Just bring a computer and get on chatroulette, instant company for your meal.
Hmm guys masturbating in front of me at a restaurant. :hmm:.... let me give that a little more thought.

As others have said, that's the attitude of a poor college student and there's nothing wrong with that. In fact, I think everybody should go through a few years of having to carefully watch their expenses. Once you get a bit more money you'll have more freedom to pick and choose how you spend it but it's always good to be able to make do on very little if you need to or want to save up for something.
I like to sit at tables opposite the ladies and just watch them eat. I get like I'm about to talk to them and then go back to playing with the salt shaker and keep watching.
Also, get a Curious George book and read it half out loud and laugh hysterically at the man in the yellow hat.
I don't think I'd ever waste my money on going to movies alone or restaurants if I had any chance of financial hardship.
I'll go to restaurants or movies by myself... doesn't really bother me. In some ways, it's nicer, because if you go with others, you end up doing weird things like... conversing and spend two... three times as long eating.
:hmm: ...crazy stuff.

Do you still live at home Trident? Just curious cause if you do, like I still do, then you don't have many expenses.
When you're making good money and have plenty of cash in your emergency fund you start doing relatively cheap things (and yes, a $20 meal out or a $10 movie once and a while is cheap when you've got even a moderate income) on a whim because you want to. Otherwise, what's the point of making a decent living?
Yeah, for now. I pay for my car insurance, gas, and whatever else that occurs. I eat my food at home usually so I don't pay for that typically.
I am saving for when I move out next year.
To have a nice house in a nice area, to go on vacations a lot, to be able to afford my childrens needs, etc...
Fair enoug. That's actually more expenses than I have as I don't own a car. Only things I have are my phone (new), monthly bus pass which is.100+ bucks and my computer hardware habit.
Nothing wrong with all of that. Some people don't put much value on food, me included. If I eat out, it's very seldom an expensive place, and almost not at all anymore. I'd rather put the money into other things.
Yep, when traveling for work alone. Why wouldn't I go out for dinner? Company is going to pay for it, better than sitting in my hotel room alone.

Oh yeah... I gotta pay the data plan on my phone too. $25/month... Whatever. I don't even think about it all because it's all mandatory spending and I don't plan expenses because it's pointless for me. I don't have 5000 things to keep track of. I just pay for the mandatory shit and try to not spend any other times. Works out well so far.
Is that $25 bucks on top of a voice plan? Cause that's cheap if not. But then you are in the US. I'm paying $56 a month for voice + data (500mb/mnth).
If paying for a movie or reasonable dinner every once and a while is a stretch you can't afford any of those things that you mentioned anyways. I'm not suggesting you eat out every night, but for somebody working full time in any decent job out there spending $10 or $20 every month or so for something fun is barely a blip on the radar when you look at your monthly expenses. Take a look at it this way, if your take home pay is $2000 a month (not an amazing job but not a minimum wage one either) a $20 meal is 1/100th of your monthly income. If you can't spend 1/100th of your income each month on something that you enjoy you're going to have an absolutely miserable life.

Some people may not care about seeing new movies or eating out, but the same can be said for buying a game, grabbing a few drinks, or even buying something special for themselves. Getting something cheap once and a while just for fun has extremely little impact on your finances and makes life more enjoyable. It's when you start doing it constantly that it turns into a problem.
I don't enjoy eating out by myself. If I am hungry, then maybe I'd do it if I was rich. That's why I said, if I was rich then maybe I'd do it sometimes... because I would do it when I was hungry and too tired/bored to cook myself something AND I was doing it at a VERY nice restaurant with entertainment. It's entirely pointless to go out to a restaurant, sit at a table by myself, wait 30 minutes for my meal to come to me after ordering... then eat. Wtf am I doing the whole time I am there? Just looking around? That's lame and boring.
