Now, please stop with the stupid, bitter plagiarism arguments, because it was a different world back then, and if this were true, most bands from that era would be guilty.

that was it though, musicians used to think that playing live was the way to earn money. it didnt matter where the music came from... they dont talk about stealing beethovens work in 1st grade music class when theyre teaching it. if you can play it better then someone else, then you just made the way you did it yours.

this whole idea where you write a few lines of shitty poetry and you expect to collect on it for the rest of your life has got to stop. and just because you made a music album, doesnt mean you deserve to be a millionaire. earn your money. play shows.

Playing someone else's music live is one thing; profiting in perpetuity from an uncredited recording of that other musician's work is another thing entirely. Led Zeppelin's unabashed rip-offs are all the more ironic considering the lengths the band took to secure the publishing rights to their purloined product. I shall also note that when more ethical musicians recorded others' compositions, they had no trouble giving credit as due.

Ah, yes, the self righteous rationalizations of yet another entitled music thief.

music has long been about taking some obscure riff and making it a hit.

Who is the Led Zeppelin of ATOT?

Would that be someone who's posts are reposts, necro posts, or quotes only?

So, why weren't the originals as popular as the versions LZ did?

Did you listen to the you tube video of that black blues band, looked like it was from the 40s or 50s (black and white), it was the song that Led Zep supposedly based How Many More Times on (or ripped it off as some say) ?

It was really good, those black guys really did that song well, I listened to the entire song. I didn't hear anything that reminded me of Led Zep though and I really like that song How Many More Times. But all that blues music kind of sounds the same to me, LOL.

It like That aussie band, they got sued for millions because they supposedly copied a girl scout song from the 50s for their song "The Land Down Under". Now the Land Down Under is a classic but I listened to the girl scout song and i heard no resemblance at all, though it did mention a vitmin sandwich.

But that stairway to heaven thing, wow I wonder if they gave some sort of credit on that one.

In all honesty it was more about looks and sexuality. This is 90% of being a famous musician or even actor/actress today. Tons of lesser people are much more talented, but they can't sell themselves or too much an artist to even consider it.

Nah, I listen to their MUSIC! I heard their music for the first time in the mid 70's and here we are in 2012, still listening to their music. Pink Floyd too.

The Led Zeppelin of the restroom stall. Spend 13 minutes making noises like that while trying to make something happen.
