The following things have changed the way I work/play.


AMD X2 3800
BFG 7800GT
Dell 2405
Xbox 360


and my latest present to myself, a Westinghouse 32" LCD HDTV.

I can't even begin to express how fvckin awesome this monitor is. HDTV looks phenominal, computer looks better then on my 2405.

and all at a resolution of 1360x768.


I hooked up my gaming PC to it today and played COD2(supported resolution out of the box), I turned everything on and I couldnt bog down the system for nothing.

The best part was that it looked better at 1360x768 then it did at 1920x1200 on my 2405.

It blows me away.

GTA:SA
COD2
Quake4
NFS:MW

etc etc etc, they just look unreal and the framerates have to be in the 100's with everything maxxed.


Guess what I paid for this...

$899, yep about the same price as a 2405, but so much better of a deal. I thought I would never recommend a Westinghouse but after having it and seeing other people's reactions and reviews I realised this is easily my best purchase of the year.

So heres my plan: Westinghouse makes a 37" LCD HDTV that does 1080P, it's also getting rave reviews and only costs $1599. My plan is to sell my 2405+2001fp+Xbox360+30" CRT HDTV and by the 37" and use the 32" as my PC monitor.

So if you have a ShopKO close to you, they will be on sale tomorrow BF for $899 as well. Get down there, buy it and thank me later.

Really, get down there and buy one.

Hmmm may have to try one.. not sure how that low res will be for crispness though? I play at 16x12 usually. You sure?

BTW 37" has no TV - it's a monitor that requires tuner of it's own..

I play 1920x1200 and really enjoyed 1360x768, remember that it's progressive AFAIK so it looks great.

Well this can do 720P and my CRT couldn't soooooo...

Also it has HDCP via DVI, if you plan on using HDVD or Bluray through Vista or other means, this is the monitor for you.

Oh...usually HDTV means it can do 720 or 1080. 480 isn't HDTV, it's SDTV, supposedly. Who knows...

Oh and thank god that LCD has HDCP.

Edit: err...you meant 720p. Never mind, no CRT can do progressive...err wait...no CRT TV can do progressive...but a CRT HDTV should be able to? err...

I've heard a lot of people complain about "DVI overscan" (mutually exclusive, I know) with TV-grade LCDs. Is that an issue when outputting from your PC?

Does this thing lag? Like does it run exactly like a regular monitor?

The LCD TV i have has lag on it (both for my PS2 and my comp), so gaming is impossible.

Runs exactly like a regular monitor, 8ms response time, so it's fast. Actually faster then my 2405 whihc is 12ms I think.

The lag he speaks of is probably related to input lag like a delay of inputting the composite/whatever signal for synchronization or other purposes.

The response times of those big LCDs will best the small ones because of their bigger crystals.

I used both and they both look fantastic, I'm just so blown away with this thing.

If you can spare the extra $600 get the 37" that does 1080P, the reviews are outstanding.

My tuner for now will be my VCR.. until I get my HDTV cable box

Anyway, Westinghouse is amazing, and both the 32" and 37" are OUTSTANDING products. The 32" DOES have a slight overscan. The 37" does not and has 1080p, which means Im future ready Just can't wait for it to actually arrive, hehe.

Youll be able to crank the AA up to 4x/6x easily for all titles at that res.

I dont think jaggies will be an issue

My roommate and I were going to get this TV from bestbuy, however the price went up to $1299 from $899. What's up with that? I thought BF always has better deals? It looks like I'm going to have wait until another sale or just forget about it and get myself a nice samsung 214T for my room.

i was looking for something like a 27 inch flat screen hdtv to put on my wall as a computer monitor...but there are so many! i just don't know the difference. plasma/lcd, 1080/720(can somebody explain taht to me please?). are there many monitors out there that can be used as a computer monitor? the convergence settings my crt are getting REALLY annoying. i'm jealous

CoD2 I cranked everything up, 8AA 16AS all the lighting, it looks phenominal at 1360x768.

Gonna get some Half Life 2 going and get some screenies.
