Everybody's Golf PS4 - the greatest golf franchise finally hits current gen

Others may know this franchise as Hot Shots Golf since that is the US name and always has been, but it's been known as Everybody's Golf (and Minna No Golf in Japan) in Europe, but this time around it's known as Everybody's Golf world wide I believe. In the USA and EU it is at least.

They are also having world wide servers which is great because that means there will be competition for long times to come.

I preordered it from Amazon for $32, but they f'd up my release day delivery and gave me 50% off, then gave me $5 Amazon credit on top of that, so I basically got the game for $12 lol. It's not arriving until tomorrow, however I have Redbox'd it so I can play it this evening and start building my characters up.

Anyone else picking up this gem of a game?

I do play a lot of golf myself (games) but I never liked the hot shot series. I must admit though that this looks pretty good other than the characters. I might give it a go if I ever see it cheap.

What didn't you like about it? Just curious because I've played a lot of golf games and HSG has had the best physics for a while now as far as golf games go.

It does have the special shots and stuff which obviously takes away from any type of realism, and the presentation is very childish, so I get all that, but the actual golf mechanics and physics in the game are actually very top notch.

The new one is great. There's definitely some stuff that I don't like about it and that feels lacking big time compared to the previous versions, especially part 5 (since part 6 was just a Vita port), but once they update online with some more modes it's going to make it even better. Single player is going to be a grind to unlock all of the course and stuff too.

Damn. When I read the thread title I was like, "BS, the greatest golf franchise is Hot Shots Golf." Haven't been keeping up with the latest games (and I don't own a PS4) but I'll check out the gameplay. Always loved playing those games with my friend way back in high school.

Hot Shots Golf has always been my favorite too. I have played it countless hours, mostly on the PSP. Probably the most of any game series other than a FPS. I have been looking forward to it, but have so many damn games as it is. I may check it out still, I just don't trust myself not to get wrapped up in it.

At this point I'd almost recommend not to purchase this to people, unless you plan on just playing single player. The game basically turns into a pay-to-win game unless you want to spend countless hours grinding out dumb non-golf shit online every day.

On top of that they added some random shit to perfect impact shots that makes them go off course more than on course too, especially with super back spin.

Hah, no I don't own it. I snagged a $1 month of Gamefly and got it that way.

I messed around for a couple hours last night. It's okay I guess. I was a little lost and the golf mechanics are insanely simple. I played the basic 9 hole challenge and the leaderboard was unreal. I'd have to get albatrosses on every hole and I still would just barely crack the top 10.

Yeah the golf mechanics and the game is fun, it's all the other stuff that isn't. There are some advanced shots you can do as well and some you have to unlock as you progress through the game.

And the reason you see those scores on the online leaderboards is because the game is basically pay to win. You can either pay real money to level up your custom clubs, or you can grind for like an hour or two a day for a week to upgrade your clubs. And those custom clubs will eventually break and you will have to do it all over again.
