I'll take a look later on a computer, I'm not much for scanning or reading sites on the phone.

Also, I'd like to point out that religious people do the same thing on a regular basis. In fact, now that Cons are in charge, expected legislated morality to be back in full swing, and that morality will mirror what Christians claim to follow.
If the left won't call out their own when they transgress, there's no reason to think the right should do the same. I'm a right -of-center libertarian with liberal social values, so if I happen across either side acting in an authoritarian way, it's going to get my attention. What's going on at Evergreen is wrong, plain and simple. It ought not be a partisan issue, but one of shared values. Typically, the entrenched nature of the debate results in predictable outcomes, like left-leaning outlets not even bothering to carry the story, and left-leaning posters either dismissing it or ignoring it. Either action in aggregate has the effect of supporting the kind of authoritarianism that instead ought to be stamped out by all of us wherever it appears, and no matter what purports to be for. Additionally, that these kids have no sense of the irony of their actions speaks poorly of their ability to think critically, indeed, of their entire education up to this point. I hope some will learn better from this incident. Perhaps not surprisingly, I could not find mainstream coverage of this event, or even text of the professor's email, but here is an image of it:

No, I really, really don't. Instead, perhaps you would consider that I am likely your ally in some circumstances.
My gut says you would be my ally in most circumstances IRL. I'm non partisan, ready to hold anyone accountable to the professed ideals.

The more I read about this, something stinks. Unless I misread, I fully support the professors stance. Just seems to me a bunch of misguided students and an aberration that Fox news and the right want to link to the left and liberalism as something thats inherent with liberalism as a whole (rather than the aberration it is).

Fox and others of their ilk are desperate to fight an ideological war to distract from the disaster at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Misguided college students vs. a dishonest, incompetent moron in the White House - you decide which matters more.

Their viewers apparently don't even agree with fox's priorities.

This thread is basically non-college material trying to talk shit about college. Ur da Real Victims here.

All we need now are some stories/thread about some minority committing a crime.

So bizarre that people seem to be advocating for poor race relations.

I know, these are strange times we live in. That professor is 100% correct and his letter was well written. Leave it to a bunch of racist entitled snowflakes to not only take offense to logic but to also physically threaten others who disagree with racism. This is really decades in the making, politically correct zealotry has been encouraged at every level and now it's reaching absurd levels that can't possibly be reconciled with the original intent.

It's what happens when the Left suffers from the same hyper partisan malady that we discussed in another thread. It churns up a regressive and racist segment of a voting bloc you never knew existed. But don't be surprised next time, understand that such failings are human and will appear in all groups. The real issue is any defense of the regression and racism on display from the students.

America has moved from Martin Luther King Jr. extolling American virtues... to minorities taking up the racist and segregationist cause of Gov. Wallace. Yes, it is bizarre.
Racism hasn't been dealt with, and it's how we got here.

Just look at the threads where people are still clinging to civil war bs.

Conservative media has long attacked liberal education. Unfortunately, the attack is on progressive rather than conservative social values rather than attacking the authoritarian approach to instituting these values. Instead, they advocate a different set of values but no less sanctimonious behavior.

The problem here is emblematic of our entire educational approach: compliance. I'm glad I was born constitutionally opposed to such a demand, but its moral wounds are still festering.

Racism of any kind should be a violation of school integrity rules and those students should be expelled.

Before addressing their lengthy list of demands, the school ought to require of students mandatory reading of and testing upon Evergreen's Social Contract:

A central focus of those values is freedom—freedom to explore ideas and to discuss those ideas in both speech and print; freedom from reprisal for voicing concerns and beliefs, no matter how unpopular. It's this freedom that is so necessary in a vibrant, dynamic learning community.

Except you have those "misguided college students" running the Democratic party and large portions of the US government with the demands of everyone change to fit their agenda. Instead of actually addressing reality, they are creating as much chaos as possible with propaganda and violence.
