Sorry, couldn't think of any insightful questions right now except this one. I just got my MSEE earlier this year.... minor in math.... god the job market sucks.

Sorry, but this is obviously a thread which belongs either in General Hardware or Off Topic

Off topic?? I disagree, this is supposed to be the highly technical forum... and college degrees tend to be directly related to technical knowledge if memory serves me. You don't HAVE to posses a degree to be highly technical... but most tech ppl do.

I would have to agree, it belongs in off topic. That is unless you are going to write a highly technical essay on the subject of your degree.

I don't care what education the entire Anandtech community has. I was only curious about the people posting in this forum.... that's my point. gosh, people here are probly too intelligent.... or else it wouldn't be so hard to ask a SIMPLE question

<< ask a SIMPLE question >>

We are just trying to make the point that this forum is used to ask HIGHLY TECHNICAL questions.

Not being mean, just having fun in a friendly arguement

what the heck,

BS Physics,
BS Math

These are independent degrees, with the same course work I could/should have had an MS in math but I was not interested in degrees when I started, just wanted to learn some numerical analysis.

BSEE, Digital and Control Systems
MSEE, IC design
MBA, Strategic Management
(turned down invite for full Ph.D. at U of Rochester, NY TOO MUCH EDUCATION! )

BTW, Rimshaker, the job market is VERY VERY brutal right now. I could be back in California in a design job, but I didn't want to deal with the expense of living and traffic and pollution and depersonalizing materialistic culture there. If you are very desperate to work, you could find something on a new grad program in California, but be prepared for life in a war zone. Massachusetts and Texas are the other places to look. Good luck and don't lose heart, this is pretty much the worst downturn for EEs since the profession came into being.

Thanx for the pep talk. I really had no idea the job market for EE's was this bad until like 3 months went by w/o anyone replying to my applications I thought I'd have less of a problem since I just got an MSEE and specialized in semiconductor fabrication... an area not many students go into anyway. I graduated in May, layoffs everywhere announced during the summer (my vacation), and then even more massive layoffs after 9/11. And here i am now, in Decemeber, still waiting. What the hell was I thinking back 2 yrs ago when i decided to get a graduate degree instead of a job?? Geezuz, EE jobs back then were given out like candy... sometimes w/o the interviews!!!!!

Just got my BS in Electrical Engineering

I got a good job, of course. But I was the LUCKY one! I can't tell you how many people i know in EE who just graduated and have NOTHING lined up. Kinda scary

Last spring and last December, kids were getting upwards of 6 job offers.

Not that they're not out there anymore, they're just harder to come by...

The sad thing is that only 2 other people get this joke. You have to be a physics major to even get the jokes in this forum

I can't imagine it's THAT hard for people. The first number should really give it away. Then you realize "Hmm...C...K..."

Ahh, it wasnt that hard even for non-physics majors, but after a couple others reply with LOL, why should the rest of us bother?
