Post board swap update: 4/17/17
MSI board is gone per RMA last week, replaced with a ASRock X370 Professional Gaming (similar to Taichi spec) but all is not fine and good just yet. I did flash the BIOS on the new board to version 2.00 (AGESA 1.0.0.4a) without issue but even with new G.Skill memory F4-3200C14D-16GFX I am not consistently posting @ full speed.
I did re-pipe about half of my existing loop and tuned the pump down some, but other than that the system remains the same, with the same Ryzen 1700 processor. At the time of this writing, the CPU seems fine at 3.8Ghz but I am planning to raise the SoC up to 1.2v or so and adjusting the LLC levels to compensate for any heavy load droop. The ASRock board is 16-phase, so I may be able to reach 4.0Ghz on this setup. On the MSI board, Cinebench would crash immediately at 4ghz.
The RAM, on the other hand, will run at either 2667 or 2993 but 3200 is not viable @ 1.35v. Some users have suggested to raise the DIMM volts up a tad, or trying higher SoC but I haven't found anything that's stuck.
Luckily, I was spared yet another fresh OS install since the two boards are same platform, and after the new drivers were installed I didn't notice anything too strange or unusual. Radeon drivers were also updated and nothing has crashed yet. The only glitch I've noticed is when I tried RDC to my work computer the machine froze up for about a second but then resumed. My best guess is that the display driver or DX had a bit of a hiccup, but I can't say for sure.
