Everything works fine except YOUTUBE VIDEOS.

So I build a computer a few months back. Had to redo the Windows installation when I realized the SSD wasn't on AHCI. Running a 2-drive system caused more problems than expected. VLC 2.0.6 had an audio problem, so I had to revert to 1.1.9. Partitioning steam games took some time.

BUT, there was one thing that shouldn't be a problem that persisted. Youtube drops frames massively. I look at the video info, and 35~40% of my frames a dropped consistently, making EVERY video unwatchable. Bringing it down to 240p helps only marginally.

I've done loads of troubleshooting already. Entered HTML5 beta, but that doesn't load the videos at all. Can't even load ads. Flash 11.7, disable hardware acceleration. Disable Firefox 21.0 hardware acceleration. Once again, only marginally better.

Basically, every 3~5 seconds the video just freezes, holds on that freeze frame for about 2 seconds, then resumes, skipping past those lost 2 seconds. Audio is running flawlessly for that entire time.

I have all the latest Catalyst drivers for my Radeon 7870 XT. Nothing in my rig is outdated.

What could be the problem?

As you continue updating flash player, or when uninstalling flash player via Programs and Features, it can lead to flash player becoming corrupted. Adobe's well aware of this fact and have written a special uninstall tool that removes all traces of every version of flash player you've ever installed.

After running this tool you can safely install the latest version of flash player without concern that it'll be corrupted as soon as it's been installed. Which I'm pretty sure is your scenario. Read the following linked page first, so you're familiar with procedure, then download and run it: Uninstall Tool for Adobe Flash Player.

Hmm. Videos are fine on Chrome, which leads me to conclude it's not a Flash problem (I won't do the uninstall). Like I said I made sure Firefox hardware acceleration is off.

What tends to be the problem with Firefox?

Chrome has a built-in flash so a corruption with the installation of flash wont affect it. It takes less than 5mins to uninstall and install flash again

Like I said the first time; a corrupted installation of Adobe flash player. Note zebrax2's post regarding Chrome and it's built-in flash player.

My last guess would be problem with firefox extensions or a corrupt firefox profile since it only happens with firefox

This is why my main browser is always Chrome. Firefox used to be my go to browser but over time i shifted to Chrome.

Even with my customer's computer's at work, i have the least amount of issues with Chrome and the most amount of issues with IE9 and 10.

I am not sure why you would be having issues with Firefox alone. I have no such issues, and I have been using Firefox for years. I jump on IE and Chrome every now and then, but hard pressed to find a difference on speed alone. If you are transferring your profile from one machine to the next, that may be the cause of your problems. Try running Firefox with nothing but a fresh Flash install and see what happens.

...except that for me the shutters occur about every second and loose several frames each time, the result is I get motion for about two thirds of a second and a freeze for about one third of a second. MSIE does not have this problem on the same computer with the same video. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both flash and Firefox and rolled flash back to version 10, and none of these measures made any difference.

Had multiple issues issues with FF in recent 6-9 months... e.g. slow and erratic loads in youtube, unable to resume after pause on Comedy Central, unable to resume after resizing etc...

Switched to Chrome, non of the above issues... Mozilla has taken their eye off the ball man...

Not that Chrome is perfect either... as an English speaker living away from home, trying to explain that to Chrome is wasting your breath... Google does not understand the concept 'expat'...
