I ordered when I saw it here. Thank you OP. Unfortunately it is on Chubby Wallet now and they will all most likely be cancelled.

Well...I couldn't resist At ~$70 with tax, in-store pickup and after MIR...I just couldn't say no. Don't get me wrong, I really had my heart set on a much faster card (at least an ATI X800 Pro or faster) for my "build in progress", but for the price I just couldn't pass it up.

I'll use it for 10 months or so and pick up a 7800GT or ATI ~equal for ~$190. This strategy has always worked well for me.

Regards,

Bud

I believe there are LOTS of 6600GTs out there waiting to be sold at REALLY low prices. I believe ATI is carving a big o'chuck outta nVidia's hind-quarters lately with their X800 Pro deals going for $185 shipped (in AGP and PCI-E). NO one with any knowledge (and any $$$ of video card performance AND pricing would buy a 6600GT for ~$150-$180 when they could pick up a X800 Pro (supposedly refurbed with 3 year warranty) which costs ~$30 more than a 6600GT.

Plus the X800 128MBer can be had for ~$119.00 and they beat the 6600GTs as well.

ATI can't compete with nV at the top end at the moment, but they sure can be a pain in nV's arse at the mid-range

fyi, this may get rejected. Its posted on 2 big forums now. Many people already have backorded emails. Although, I guess the rebate doesnt end untill 10/2 so even backordered might be fine, assuming they get more by then.

First of all, 6600GTs have been dancing around $130 for months now and they are overall superior to the X800. Refurbed X800 Pros aren't exactly what I'd call real competition since inventory is unpredictable at best. Plus the 6600GT has additional featurs like SLI and SM3 that make it stand out even more over the X800 and X800GT and X700 Pro.

Second of all, go ahead and believe whatever you want, but your optimism won't help you when the Micro Center rep looks at the order screen, chuckles, shakes his head, and clicks the "cancel all" button.

As a side note, the "too-good-to-be-true" 9800 Pro 256 for $200 deal lasted for a month last time. If you have a local store, check regularly to see if they show up on the trucks.

Potential cheap SLI package? Would this be a $140 SLI setup capable of beating a $190 X800Pro? EVGA website says it's SLI capable.

Could be, but I also believe the $30 MIR offers ATI had on their X800 128MBer's the whole month of July was the main reason nVidia missed their revenue target by $15M last quarter. If you look around at the popular e-tailers you'll find a LOT of 6600GTs for $160 to $190. I don't think they've sold many, but they surely won't be ordering any more 6600GTs until they've sold off their inventory.

And it may take ATI a while to ship their "refurbed" X800 Pro's but until R520 and the rest of their next gen. lineup are available in mass...ATI has no other choice but to offer up good prices on their existing lineup in order to sell enough product to satisfy the investment community.

ATI got a "free pass" from investors for the last quarter...they won't be given the same opportunity this quarter. IMO

Dude(?)...you're post is confussing as hell. A 9800 Pro at $200 bucks is NOT a deal (even if it came with 512MB of RAM) AND it's not suitable for SLI Oh...I got ya, buy a pair of the EVGA 6600GT's. Didn't check, but the MIR is most likely 1 per household

I got that over and over and over and finally had to call in. I was shocked to get a real, live customer service rep after two rings! He said a lot of customers were getting the error, but that he could take my order for me. At any rate, it's backordered. :frown:

Thanks, OP.

Awesome

Two of these in SLI, at this price, actually makes sense now. Quite a bit cheaper than a 6800GT/X800XL/etc.

Too bad I already have a 6800GT in AGP though
