EVGA 7800GS resolution problem 1920x1200?

I bought a Hanns.g 28” monitor HG281D and I’d like to use it with the resolution set at 1920x1200 with my EVGA 7800GS CO video card but when I set it at that resolution I get a black screen for about two seconds every few minuets. I have it set to 1680x1050 right now and it’s fine. My Nvidia control panel recommends 1920x1080 but that looks like crap. I’ve got it hooked up using the DVI to HDMI. My video card is a EVGA 7800GS CO Model Number 256-A8-N507-AX. Will this video card go to 1920x1200 or do I need to find another? I’m running a EVGA GTX 260 on my other computer and the monitor looks great at 1920x1200 on that computer with no problems. Anyway, I have done some searching and I can’t find out if this video card supports 1920x1200. I also updated the video driver to the newest one and that didn’t help, I don’t know what else to try. Any Ideas?

Max resolution on that card is 'Maximum Resolution: 2048 x 1536 @ 85Hz (Analog)' taken from http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...IN#detailspecs

Try another DVI cable, try VGA (if the monitor supports it) and see if it gets any problems at 1920x1200 oh and if you ever get a chance the enter key for seperating paragraphs is great

There are more options I'm sure other forum members will suggest

I have that exact video card driving a Sony Trinitron E540 CRT and can confirm it does drive an analog display at 2048 x 1536 @ 65Hz for my monitor.

Could you elaborate further on why it looks like crap @ 1080P (1920 x 1080)?

I can hook mine up to my HDTV using a DVI->HDMI adapter and test it out if you would like.

I have a 56" Samsung DLP television.

Well, at 1920x1080 it makes the pictures look distorted. It makes cars look like they belong in cartoons and can make a AMT 45 long slide look like a snub-nose.

I have tried two different cables, no change.

I think this is just something I'll have to live with for now. This computer is really old, it's a 3.4GHz P4 with a AGP video card. I'm just gonna try and build another computer before the end of the year.

Thanks for all your help.

Just curious, which cables did you try, just the AC power to the wall, or the cable coming from the computer as well?
No really, which cables? Did analog not work either?

Dont let the display stretch the 1080P signal, just live with the black strips at the top and bottom at least it wont be streched and will look fine.

I just tried the DVI since I have both my computers hooked up to this monitor. I tried both ports on my HDMI switcher so I ruled that out as the cause of this problem.
