"what's the difference" looks like a good question. Maybe someone with more time than I have can answer. googled the AR # and found plenty googled the FX # and nada. put quotes around the FX# and found more but it looks like the question has been asked before

I have a x800xl agp, and just got a pci-e board...

That is a big rebate though...

I hope you realize that you can get a directx10 capable 8800gts 320mb at newegg for around $280 AR. If I were you, I wouldn't buy anything now just as a holdover until more directx10 cards come out. That's just me though.

I know that DX10 cards are out. I just think there to expensive and there a no (or maybe a few?) games out. After the research I have done, I think the 7900gs is a great budget card.

Still need help finding out what the "FX" card is???

Good deal so I jumped.

Printed out the page and rebate form. $211 Shipped - $80 MIR = $130 and not having to wait for a rma to come through.
Now I just need to rma and sell the replacement card.

What is a good, cheap, and quiet aftermarket cooler for this card? Does it use the same cooler as the 7900 GTs (cut up ac nv5)?

I have had good luck with rebates from Outpost so far,

And EVGA has that 90 day trade up program.

And I needed a pci-e card.

and I seem to be pretty good at this rationalizing stuff..

And I am out of money..

This is a good deal, although a pretty hefty rebate that'll hurt if not returned. I'm not sure of the differences between AR and FX either, but worst case scenario it's a stock clocked 7900gs.. well worth the price IMO.

Looking at the Product sheet

It states the part number as " 256-P2-N620 " ... So I think the "-AR" and "-FX" are for different packages or bundles , but the actual card is the same.

But this is all conjecture still , as mine won't show up till 2/27

From the tiny picture they provide, the heatsink looks more like a 624 (larger) than a 620, I've seen both. Then again, the picture may be wrong anyway. All I know is if the rebate does not match what I'll be getting, it goes back. And the FX better mean HDCP support.

it appears to be the same card... even though the newegg's doesn't say KO in the description, the specs shows 500 core which is a KO.

so the fry's one is a better deal if you can wait for the larger rebate.

So whats the difference between this and th KO version. Is it just the GPU 500Mhz to 450Mhz or is there more?
The KO version is on sale at microcenter for $139 AR. Is the extra $30 worth it for the differnce for a medium gamer?
