IDK about Vista, but with XP you just go into the device manager and uninstall the driver.

That's the case with xp, I have no idea what to do with Vista, hopefully someone will comment about it soon, also get the 8800GTS if possible, because that is a sick card. See if it will fit, because you'll really appreciate it.

I would find out for sure. The 320MB 8800 GTS is a MUCH better card, and the same price.

If you can, go for the 8800GTS 320. I'm not going to malign the 7950GT, though, I'm using one now and it is a great card.

Unless you've got some really bizarre setup, a 8800 won't interfere with the cpu fan, the extra size of the 8800 hangs below the card, not above it. It'll take up a PCI slot, but won't hit your cpu.

Definitely get the 8800gts, it'll destroy a 7950 or x1950xt. It's $270AR shipped at zipzoomfly.

Take it from me, I've used both the G71 and G80 chips, the G80 is much better and is a bargain at that price.

Does the fan come on high for silly things like java and flash or video clips? The little cooler on the 7950 is quite obnoxious when running full tilt.

If your motherboard supports the 8800 GTS, definitely go with that over the 7950.

I have a BFG 7950 OC which I really like and has been rock solid. I have a fairly quiet system and don't hear the fan noise from it. I run mainly at 1900x1200 for gaming and run dual displays for most non-gaming tasks. Titan Quest at 1900x1200 is not as smooth as I would like, but most other games that I play run well including the recently released C&C 3 and SupremeCommander demos. WoW runs really great but it is not that taxing a game.

I would have gone with an 8800 GTS or GTX if my motherboard supported it (my current MB doesn't support 8800 series cards).

I use a PNY 7950GT 512MB and have been completely satisfied. As the difference between those two eVGA cards: the one for $285 runs the core at 600MHz instead of 560MHz. Don't blow the extra $40, every 7950GT on the planet will overlock 40MHz.

I have the eVGA 7950GT 512MB card, and while I like it and it does a great job, I am upgrading to the 8800GTS. I would suggest you take a look at that card.

I am waiting for some DX10 competition before I spend any $$$ on card. If you need a card NOW then I would get the 8800gts 340mb, but if you dont need a new card I would wait for some competition.
