I am thinking about the Classified mobo. I've just been soo undecided on which board; not interested in high priced boards, unhappy with layouts, not satisfied with the amount of dimm slots on some of the choices i was thinking of, etc etc... so I finally am warming up to the 760 Classified. I've read an article on Anand about its overclocking here. I'm about to read the first look next.

I have a few questions.

1. is there a non NF200 Classified?

2. will my enermax Revolution 950 work? (heard of PSU compatibility issues - searched EVGA's forums and came up with nothing)

3. does is support ATI X-fire?

Thanks for your time

Thanks for the reply JASTECH!

So far it looks like the 760 A1 does NOT have the NF200 chip and I think it can do X-fire - from what I've been reading. But if you can confirm this, that would be helpful

The 760 and 761 models do not have the nForce 200 chip. In fact, the 759 model which does have the chip was discontinued and may be hard to find. All X58 boards, including all Classified models, can do Crossfire. However, as EVGA is one of nVidia's biggest partners, Crossfire support won't be advertised on the box or in the product manual. Don't fret however, as Crossfire will be supported.

Crossfire is supported on all X58 boards produced by evga AFAIK, including the Classified E759.

As far as that kit is concerned, do you really need DDR3-2000? What real life benefit is it going to give you?

Let me tell you what is certain: it will put a dent in your wallet; if the fans are necessary it will add noise; it will require a 4000 MHz IMC; it will take a truck load of VTT to run.

Sure it will shave a few seconds off your WinRar tasks, but is it really worth it?

Nah, I probably won't use that fan setup but a 120x38 fan over them. Like the 760 A1 won't,

...man, you're setup looks 80% like mine will end up

How big of a drawback will that kit be?

Because there is no point in running the uncore at 4000 mhz and drilling it with VTT. It will make overclocking harder.

When the performance difference is 3-4%, would you rather run 2000 mhz ram with with 1.5 VTT, or 1600 mhz ram with 1.2 VTT?

Ram speed and uncore speed do absolutely nothing for you in real life applications. Its purely for benching.

rrrrr

I should of asked before I ordered them then I am not too fond of running high vtt ; will that kill anything? whats the safe vtt limit? do you think i can run them maybe at 1600 and not have to use such a high vtt? I'd rather not kill my board or anything..

dang

VTT will kill your cpu. The maximum recommended is 1.35V and people seem to completely disregard this. If you have a board that adds voltage in the bios, you can set max +250mv. Default is 1.1V.

Sure you can run them at 1600, and you can even try to tighten up the latencies. 7-7-7 should be easy, there is a good chance you can do 6-6-6 at 1.65V. Just make sure to run memtest. For 1600 you will need your uncore at 3200 mhz, 1.2 to 1.25 VTT should be enough for that.
