Most of my cards are EVGA. I like their precision tool, their RMA policy and their upgrade policy. I spend some time in their forums reading faq's on overclocking, shader tuning and bios flashing.

I was looking for a promotion that might lead me to a free game as I just purchased 6 260 cards which will be in action soon when I noted that they pay their folders!

Check out their site and see that they reward folders for participating. Look at their stats and stand to be amazed at the sheer number of new folders they are acquiring. Those guys are freaking crazy!

Keep folding,

So you have to fold for Team EVGA? Damn that's good and bad at the same time. I like the team I'm folding for...

Yes that is pretty crazy. Still, I don't think they could pay me enough. I'm with PCTC2, Team Anandtech is way too cool. I would like to check out thier faq's though. Seems interesting.

Just recieved my 6th 260/216 today. 4@ 55nm, 2@ 65nm and 1 65nm with 192 core. Installing it now....

So, put them babies in Gravity and Get your production back up!

You've been reading too many of my posts and now you just associate the Asian avatar with me. It was geokilla, not me.

I was going to fold 1 million credits for eVGA until I realized it would cost me more than my electricity I would pay for it, so I'm staying with Anandtech. Do THEY have a BBQ Thread? I think not!

Ah hell, I could never read too many of your posts. Just like most in here, I get lots-o-information out of them, even if I have to ignore them. Which reminds me, I should jump on over to the other thread and ignore that one too.

I tell you what though. These 260/216's can crank out the points! I have been reading some of the FAQ's over at EVGA and there is some good info to read.

Takes me about 17-18 days at my rate. Still, wouldn't do it. $100 will not pay my electric bill nor my time. Besides it shouldn't take such a small amount to be an incentive to move. Nothing against anyone, but I prefer loyalty over greed.

My friend's running a GPU client on his GTX260 and one SMP on his Q6600 and he got almost 1 mil in half a year. He'll need around a month more to make that final push.

Lol. To give you an idea of the point production of each, the 216's can produce well over 7000 and the 192's can produce around 6000 PPD. And this of course depends on the WU. I get much better results in vista by itself with the 192 core as opposed to XP along with another card. I just switched it from an Xp machine to my Vista machine as I purchased another 55nm to match it with another in the same rig. And this is why I know. In XP the 192 produced around 5000..maybe.. With the 55nm 216's, it doesn't make a difference. They just crank.

Actually you could potentially make some cash at that rate.

Dual GTX 260 - 14000 ppd
i7 920 @ 3.8GHz - 10000 ppd
i7 @ 3.7GHz + SLI GTX 260 - 500W (peak)

So:
1000000/24000 = 42 days
0.5kw*24hr/day*42days = 504 kwh
504kwh*$0.10/kwh = $50

Obviously you can adjust the rate/kwh for your area (here in NC power is quite cheap).

You can only make cash if you reinvest: you don't get the money, it's just a voucher you'll get to buy more hardware at the evga shop.

You get EVGA bucks, not cash. And don't forget that the EVGA store is usually more expensive that Newegg, NCIX, etc etc.

@ Drsignguy

A gtx 260 (192) can only produce 5-6k ppd?

my gts 250 produces about 5800ppd most of the time on vista and I think that is low.

My 9800gt produces 4.5-5.5k Thing I dont like about the 9800gt is the tiny little fan that likes to make noise, lol.

I honestly think the 9800gt and gts 250 are the best cards to get for cost /production wise; unless I am not thining properly atm. More cards for less money and higher ppd output overall.

If the 260 (216) were a little cheaper (150 ar) I think it would be best price/ ppd card.

I am currently trying to find the best cards for the money/ppd, but above noted are me thoughts

^^^ damn I got my systems setup all wrong possibly. I run WCG on cpu's and F@H on gpu's currently. I guess if I ran my setup like yours or dedicated machines; I would only benefit F@h and not wcg.

but the price to pay for all the Gpu's needed to get good results for folding could be more than building some cheap systems and dedicating to folding or wcg...I am going to have to give this some thought.

Yes, the (192) cores produce approx that amount. The 65nm 216's are much better at producing and the 55nm are slightly better. They run fairly cool as long as you set the fan speed a bit higher. So, to me, the "best bang" so to speak is the 55nm 260/216's. If you find the right place to purchase and at a reasonably good price, you can get a nice PPd out of them.
