Hello

Last month when i was doing my monthly dust clean out, noticed my Geforce 1660 Super was only secured by One screw---should i attempt to fix that? i got a set of Computer screws in my storage area if i need to fix this asap

*PC was built by Local Shop in June 2020* first time i noticed that last month, though perhaps i should've noticed it sooner oops

But i can shutdown today and fix it if need be, and do monthly dust clean out today

It's not critical. The screws just help hold the card in place. I've run cards with no screws while testing, or run cards with 1 screw for years when I didn't have any extras on hand during assembly. Just don't throw your computer.

Ohh I'd never ever throw it thats for sure. When i do move it for dusting, it's handled very very carefully. and returned to its desk very very carefully as well.

If you mean the chassis bracket, that's not a huge deal.

If you mean the four screws that are supposed to be holding the the heatsink to the GPU, then if only one is present, then that is more problematic.

Two screws is more secure, but if its just sitting on your desk, one screw is fine for that GPU, which is relatively company to higher end GPUs. If we were talking about a 3090 or something, having all these screws in is pretty important due to the weight of the card. A 1660 being a low end card, and not weighing much will be fine.

Ok Relaxes then, yes if was higher end card definitely would have all screws in. Sometimes i tend to panic, thankfully didn't too badly this time.

Guess my Older Geforce 1050 2GB was heavier in my old System, as that OEM System from Asus had a GPU support bracket in the case. Tried using this newer card originally with that system, but ran way too hot in that case

So did a small upgrade instead--Case, Motherboard/CPU, and had 1660 Installed, along with the drives and such that was in older system into newer tower. (Case is Thermaltake V200 TG RGB)

Old System was Asus G11CD-K (Intel 7700, 16GB of Ram (Now upgraded to 32GB in newer board) Western Digital Blue 250GB boot ssd, and WD Black 1TB storage drive had at the time.

If at the time i could've afforded a higher end video card i think i would've went for it, but sadly in June 2020 i was limited to no more than $249, so decided on the 1660 Super, but will upgrade it eventually in the future along with Power supply most likely

Especially if it's the middle screw, one tightened down good is plenty though having a second is nice as insurance incase one gets loose. That's less of an issue with ones tightened with a screwdriver rather than finger tightened.

Board flex and stress at the attachment of the PCB to the bracket and at the PCIe slot is more of a concern with big heavy coolers that attaching the bracket to the case. With a 1660S you should be fine.
