OK. Got to 688/1502, which seems to be the limit with Coolbits. I may try RivaTuner later.

It's possible that the cards are harder to overclock in SLI. It's also possible that one of my cards' RAM is not quite as amenable to overclocking since SLI overclocking will be limited by the capabilities of the worst card (relatively speaking). One of things we never consider is that SLI doubles your risk of getting a card with either a balky GPU or memory.

I'd be interested in hearing others' experiences in overclocking 7900 GTOs in SLI and seeing if they jibe with mine.

Oh, and Videopho, I assume from your score that you are not running 3dmark06 with "high quality" settings?

Anybody have any idea why in ATITool my default memory speed is 330 while in the Nvidia control panel it's 660?

What version of ATITool are you using?

You may want to uninstall ATITool and install again. Make sure you install version 0.25 Beta 15, which as far as I know is the latest beta.

Edit:
My link was incorrectly to version 14. Version 15 should be used.

330 x 2 (DDR) = 660

That's an excellent score.

330 x 2 (DDR) = 660

isn't the stock mem 660x2=1320?

Sorry, I wasn't thinking. But ATI Tool divides by four for some reason.

Maybe it's 330 x 2 (DDR2) x 2 (DDR3).

Here's my 3DMark03 score without pushing anything. Interestingly, my Pixel Shader 2.0 test is way down from my pulled 7900GT.

that's what I got too when I tried Beta 14, the version that techPowerup! has for download. But then discovered Beta 16 at Softpedia, and noticed one of its "new" features is that it "Fixed wrong memory clock on NVIDIA G7x." Just tried it, and the mem clock now shows correctly.

I had no idea ATITool now worked on nVidia cards until you mentioned it, Navid--but are you sure you're still using Beta 14, the one you linked to a while back ?

How good are these scores exactly?

That's the best score I have yet seen to dat for the GTOes. Mine only scores 6249 which I think is pretty good alreeady. He must a high c2d cpu like e6800 or something.

I'm sorry about that. I did link to the wrong version.
Beta version 15 is what I am using.
I am going to correct my links so that others do not get misdirected.

My 3Dmark06 comes out to 5853? Something wrong here? I flashed my card to GTX successfully. I forgot to take 3dmark readings before flashing though :frown:.

Edit: Load temps at 59-60. Is there a way to keep fan at max all the time? I tried rivatuner but fan stays at same speed, even under load at 1200RPM which according to Riva is about 50%.

Is 5853 @ stock clock? If it is indeed @ stock, you're in good shape. O/cing'er to 700/800 is what to do next I suppose.

Ah, well ... we'll see how my scores are

Btw, how difficult is the GTO -> GTX flashing process? Possibility of bricking the card?

I'm running a 360W PSU(Silverstone #ST365, +12V1 and +12V2 combined = 25A) is this PSU going to be enough for this card?

So far the PSU is just running a couple harddrives and an Ath64 3500+ on an MSI K8NGM2-FID using the onboard Geforce 6150 video

Besides these 7900GTOs what would be the recommended nVidia card one notch lower in price range?

From NewEgg specs:

System Requirements Minimum of a 450 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 22 Amp Amps.)

Minimum 550 Watt for SLI mode system.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 34 Amp Amps.)
An available 6 pin PCI-E power connector (hard drive power dongle to PCI-E 6 pin adapter included with card)

Thanks, so it seems the card wants 22A on the +12V rail?

This PSU I'm running says "12V v2.01(Dual + 12v)"

The spec sticker on the side of the PSU breaks down the +12V into "+12V1" and "+12V2"

+12V1 = 10A
+12V2 = 15A

So I'm guessing the available current to the +12V rail is 25A? Making this PSU sufficient for the 22A rated 7900GTO card?

I don't have any PCIe cards yet so I wonder if I'm missing something.
