Of course, they announce the cards and both are currently on **BACKORDER**
If you've recently purchased an 8800, this would be a nice step up when EVGA gets them in stock. Looks like a $15.00 upgrade to the gts/ko for me. Purchased an 8800gts from newegg at the end of Nov.

Is there a difference under that cooler (like a full copper HS?)
Otherwise it isn't worth the money. Mine does those speeds EASY and some more.

My 8800GTS will do 650mhz, 580 is a breeze even with the stock cooler.
Same with the RAM. Mine hit 2050mhz. So 1700mhz is EASY.

Just use Rivatuner to overclock and save some money.

I'm with wizboy. The memory and core clock speeds are less than what most people are reporting as easy overclocks for the stock card. Now you might be able to overclock a KO card even higher assuming the special cooler is more efficient than stock, but color me skeptical that the cooler is anything other than aesthetically different.

Special edition video cards were interesting choices back when companies claimed you voided the warranty when you overclocked, but since eVGA's warranty already covers you for overclocking damage (as does, I think XFX's warranty), I don't really see much point.

Also, I forgot something.

Do they speed bin these?
That MIGHT make it worth the extra money.

But this is what I want for my extra $$$:
-Better Cooler (all copper for starters)
-Speed Binned Core and RAM.
-MUST overclock better then regular version (not just for the lower temps that goes along with better cooler)
-Have higher stock speeds, since both of those are easy overclocks.
-Must come with their top of the line warrent (if it doesn't already, didn't check that)

Did I miss anyting?
If it meets all the above requirements then sure, I'll spend $15 to upgrade.

Is the noise level the same, reduce or higher than the previous versions?

I don't know if these are worth any extra money, or not, but these seem to be the same cards that were originally announced and then taken off the market until now, for reasons that I am not clear on. These, as as reviewed by Anandtech were one of the few initial 8800 card to depart from Nvidia's reference design to any significant degree--mainly in the area of cooling. In the article it was described as running relatively cool, and acheiving high overclocks as a result.

Like I made a comment on the other thread, the actual clock speed jump occurs @620 then @635. So anything in between (such as 630MHz of XXX Mega-Ultra-Supa-Dupa-Turbo-Belly Edition) will result in 621MHz, and I'm guessing 98% of GTX can do 620MHz provided a semi-decent airflow in an ATX case. Just do it on your own, folks!
