Newegg has eVGA GTX 285 on sale for $390 - $30 rebate, free shipping. This is the SC version that usually sells for $410. Use Live! to get cashback, too.
if you want to go all out, TD has BFG GTX 285 OCX (gpu 702, same as evga's SSC) for $410 + 3 shipping. You can get 10 % CB at TD, bringing the final cost to $ 372.

Actually, you can get 10%, or $50 CB at TD, making it $453 for a GTX 295. I realize you can get 60-70% more performance out of the 295, for less than 30% price difference between 295 and 285; unless you have a >24" monitor, the gaming experience may not be that different. I have been on occasion tempted to buy the 295, just not sure about the heat/noise/microstuttering issues associated with dual-gpu cards, esp. after owning a 285, which runs significantly cooler/quieter than my GTX 280 (and 295's are supposed to be even hotter and noisier than a 280). I had to crank my 280's fan over 70 % to stay below 80 C, whereas the 285's fan rarely ever went over 50 %.
Got the GTX 285. Thanks OP. Was considering the 295, but... probably not going to need the extra power, and if I do, I'll just pick up another 285 down the road and throw it in SLI.
