wow! so the 6990 throttles depending on heat or some other factor? Can you post some pics of your rig? Did you leave a gap between your GPUs like I have? Thankfully, I have the Delta 120mm right above the GPUs so they suck the hot air right out of the case.
During load, however, the GPUs reach 80-85C. How hot do yours get?
The dual GPU cards are always going to be hotter than their single GPU counterparts.

A great way to spend 2k dollars... wow.... obsession or something,, what 2 SLI isnt enogh for u wtf
look here:

3x 6970s pulled 47.7K. I must be doing something wrong...
I bet its the system bus... he uses sandy...
For now i have dell2711, 1x 27 inch monitor...
Have not run unigine yet...
That is really weird. Someone else in that link you posted shows 2 560Ti clocked at 1000MHz and their Vantage score is 44k but a guy with 580 SLI is 39k. WTF?
That is really weird. This was the first time I ran Vantage btw so I'm not sure how to optimize the computer to get the best scores. Plus, my rig is to game, do video/photo editing, and 3D modeling, benchmarks are for shits and giggles.
On that note, there is a guy on OverClockers[dot]net who has the Zotac GTX-590 Quad-SLI OC'd to 700MHz and he got 59k in Vantage!
Here's the link: http://www.overclock.net/12982618-post578.html
I believe he's at stock voltage too so that's pretty impressive. I don't know what makes the Vantage scores jump up so high but anyway, actual performance in programs/games is what matters. And dude, 2 6990s for ONE 27"? Are you planning to get surround? I was able to max out BC2 settings on ONE EVGA GTX-580 SC on one Dell U3011 (30").
Hoping for 4x27" or a 6x27" array after my wallet recovers.
Here are my 3SLI GTX 580 scores:So I finally got my system up and running and everything is working great.
Ran a couple of benchmarks and here they are:
I have never used 3DMark 11 before so I'm not sure how to gauge those scores. I am using EVGA GTX-590 Classified Quad-SLI @ 630MHz.
Gaming is simply superb! I get about 80-115GPS @ 8100x1600 in BC2 with all the settings at 'HIGH', 2x MSAA, 16xAF, HBAO OFF, and V-Sync OFF and about 75-110FPS in Bulletstorm @ 8100x1600 with NO AA but all settings 'HIGH'.
Idle temps are less than 40C and load temps are 80-85C. That is with the fan at 75% manually set in EVGA Precision.
How does 3 GTX580s only score 5652 in 3DMark11 when my unlocked 6950 has gotten a score of 5407. SHouldn't Tri-SLI destroy a single card? Sounds like something was not right.
That CF 6990 setup is much more in line with what I'd expect.
My result http://3dmark.com/3dm11/2142477 for your reference
Here are my 3SLI GTX 580 scores:
My PC:
CPU: i72600K @ 4.5GHz (OC), Vcore 1.370V, LLC=Level 6
CPU Heatsink: Khuler H2O 920 + 2 CM Slient Fan 2000RPM Blue Led (Push/Pull)
GPU: 3Sli Gtx 580 (2x EVGA GTX 580 SC + 1x Gigabyte GTX 580) OC @ 850MHz / 2100.
Idle temps are 36C and load temps are 82C, GPU fans at AUTO
The X in the score means it was ran at the extreme preset.
I want to play! I want to play!
Intel Core i7 3960X @ 4200MHz
Asus P9X79 Deluxe @ 42 x 100MHz
16GB Corsair XMS3 @ 2133 DDR

Samsung 22X SH-S223L DVD-RW
Sound Blaster X-Fi HD USB
Cooler Master HAF-X case
Prolimatech Megahalems cooling
Corsair AX1200 power supply
I only use a slight bump in voltages for these overclocks. Runs pretty cool with air cooling.
