980X @4GHz,
6990s @ 925MHz
P42237 on Vantage

EDIT:
980X @ 4HGz
6990 @ 950MHz and 1300MHz on ram.
P42795
EDIT END

EDIT 2:
980X @ 4HGz
6990 @ 980MHz and 1450MHz on ram.
P43211

END EDIT 2

The wierd part is that according to my APC UPS system draws between 650 and 840 watts. Yet When I run BOINC client which loads GPUs to 90-100% at 880MHz I am pulling between 1.1 and 1.2 KILO watt.

EDIT:
That's 650 to 840 watts during 3DMv11 and/or Vantage. I suspect that due to CF scaling the 2nd, 3rd, 4th GPUs don't have enough work to stay at 880MHz, so they clock down, reduce Voltage and overall system power draw does down in 3DMv11 vs BOINC.

wow! so the 6990 throttles depending on heat or some other factor? Can you post some pics of your rig? Did you leave a gap between your GPUs like I have? Thankfully, I have the Delta 120mm right above the GPUs so they suck the hot air right out of the case.

During load, however, the GPUs reach 80-85C. How hot do yours get?

The dual GPU cards are always going to be hotter than their single GPU counterparts.

Before water cooling my GPUs were between 90 and 110 C. Now they are in 60s under full load.

Wow! I am really surprised that the GTX-590s at stock clocks give better scores in Vantage than HIGHLY OC'd 6990s! This is really interesting. So, at 980MHz, 6990s in CF still cannot beat GTX-590s in SLI (?). Of course, Vantage and 3DMark 11 are only a few benchmarks but I wonder how the performance in games compares? What kind of FPS do you get in BC2 and at what settings?

Also, what monitor(s) are you running? Single or surround? Have you been able to run the Unigine Heaven 2.5 benchmark yet?

The temps are what concern me about the GTX-590s. At load, I'm pushing 85C on 2 GPUs while the other two are around 76-78C at load. At idle, all four GPUs are under 40C.

You hit 110C at load?!?

That is just scary! Water-cooling FTW!

3x 6970s pulled 47.7K. I must be doing something wrong...

I bet its the system bus... he uses sandy...

For now i have dell2711, 1x 27 inch monitor...

Have not run unigine yet...

That is really weird. Someone else in that link you posted shows 2 560Ti clocked at 1000MHz and their Vantage score is 44k but a guy with 580 SLI is 39k. WTF?

That is really weird. This was the first time I ran Vantage btw so I'm not sure how to optimize the computer to get the best scores. Plus, my rig is to game, do video/photo editing, and 3D modeling, benchmarks are for shits and giggles.

On that note, there is a guy on OverClockers[dot]net who has the Zotac GTX-590 Quad-SLI OC'd to 700MHz and he got 59k in Vantage!

Here's the link: http://www.overclock.net/12982618-post578.html

I believe he's at stock voltage too so that's pretty impressive. I don't know what makes the Vantage scores jump up so high but anyway, actual performance in programs/games is what matters. And dude, 2 6990s for ONE 27"? Are you planning to get surround? I was able to max out BC2 settings on ONE EVGA GTX-580 SC on one Dell U3011 (30").

Hoping for 4x27" or a 6x27" array after my wallet recovers.

haha 6x27" would be awesome! I have 4 of the U3011 but the 4th is used for my laptop in another room.. plus... peripheral vision is already maxed out with 3 30" monitors in landscape..LOL..

HMM just realized something, Baashas CPU is 990 at 4.4GHz. I never pushed my 980 above 4GHz and most of the time its at stock clock.

Baasha,
Could you do me a favor? Clock your 990 to 4Hz and run Vantage on P setting?
Thanks.

So I finally got my system up and running and everything is working great.

Ran a couple of benchmarks and here they are:

I have never used 3DMark 11 before so I'm not sure how to gauge those scores. I am using EVGA GTX-590 Classified Quad-SLI @ 630MHz.

Gaming is simply superb! I get about 80-115GPS @ 8100x1600 in BC2 with all the settings at 'HIGH', 2x MSAA, 16xAF, HBAO OFF, and V-Sync OFF and about 75-110FPS in Bulletstorm @ 8100x1600 with NO AA but all settings 'HIGH'.

Idle temps are less than 40C and load temps are 80-85C. That is with the fan at 75% manually set in EVGA Precision.
Here are my 3SLI GTX 580 scores:

My PC:
CPU: i72600K @ 4.5GHz (OC), Vcore 1.370V, LLC=Level 6
CPU Heatsink: Khuler H2O 920 + 2 CM Slient Fan 2000RPM Blue Led (Push/Pull)
GPU: 3Sli Gtx 580 (2x EVGA GTX 580 SC + 1x Gigabyte GTX 580) OC @ 850MHz / 2100.
Idle temps are 36C and load temps are 82C, GPU fans at AUTO

Im just astounded you guys even CF/SLI 6990/gtx590 without water cooling... the back plates on these cards get crazy hot and radiate next to the air intake of the nearby card.

How does 3 GTX580s only score 5652 in 3DMark11 when my unlocked 6950 has gotten a score of 5407. SHouldn't Tri-SLI destroy a single card? Sounds like something was not right.

That CF 6990 setup is much more in line with what I'd expect.

My result http://3dmark.com/3dm11/2142477 for your reference

Woah dude, sick. Is that on a PCIE 2.0 or 3.0 board? If it is 2.0 does running the 580s x8 x4 x4 give you a decent bump over dual SLI 580s x8 x8 or haven't you checked. Just wondering if they are being starved of bandwidth

The X in the score means it was ran at the extreme preset.

I see, but then not everyone wants to pay for benchmark software to compare scores to so I had always thought the basic test would be the posted result.

I want to play! I want to play!

Intel Core i7 3960X @ 4200MHz
Asus P9X79 Deluxe @ 42 x 100MHz
16GB Corsair XMS3 @ 2133 DDR
Three GTX 580 in Tri-SLI @ 850/2200
120GB Vertex 3 SSD
Two 3TB Deskstar 7K3000 in RAID-0 - 6TB
1TB SpinPoint F1
Samsung 22X SH-S223L DVD-RW
Sound Blaster X-Fi HD USB
Cooler Master HAF-X case
Prolimatech Megahalems cooling
Corsair AX1200 power supply

I only use a slight bump in voltages for these overclocks. Runs pretty cool with air cooling.

Nice numbers man.

What is up with the way 3DMark11 calculates scores? Compare the results from GT1 to GT4 and the graphics score. Strange right?

Could you run a Vantage with Physx disabled for me please?
