I'm actually not sure how hot to classify this, on the one hand this is by far the cheapest a 780 has sold for new from a retailer, on the other hand it's a bit more than the 970 which can effectively get pretty close to this in performance at better power usage.

That being said this particular 780 is pretty much the best overall for the silicon lottery from what I've seen, and the 780 is usually a bit ahead of the 970.

I'm very seriously considering picking one up to SLI into my rig (retailer fresh card at used second hand prices!) and then waiting out a few gens of card updates.

Are you getting those OC's with an unlocked voltage mod/BIOS? I can't seem to get mine stable above my current settings in everything I do (OCCT stable 25 MHz above but games randomly crash) but it does seem I'm voltage locked to either 1.062 or 1.082 depending on the mood of my card lol.

What are you trying to do to my wallet?!?

That being said there's like no waterblocks on the market for the classified, pretty much just the EK block is what I can find on the market and that wouldn't look very good next to my 780 with the full cover Bitspower

Stock card on air -- from what I gathered from the Classy thread (Overclock.net) what I was seeing was fairly average/slightly above for this card.

I do have the voltage pushed as far as it'll go in Precision, but it's not much I don't think -- I'd have to look at it again as it's been a while since I messed with it.

I bit -- not needed but it'll give me something to play around with this fall/winter. For going SLI I think it's a good deal, I paid $550 a year ago for the same card. If you're not adding to an existing system there's probably better options.

In a vacuum, this looks like a fantastic deal. However, unless you already have a 780 and are looking to step up to SLI, and can't see any reason I would recommend either of these cards over a 970x if someone was looking for a card in the $300-350 range today.

Nah, as I noted this is an interesting choice as it's probably the best overall 780 out there (didn't see the price of the Asus at the time) and an interesting priceerformance card, but mainly meant for those of us with a 780 since SLI is an interesting prospect depending on your set-up (I'm going back to multi-monitor soon hopefully).

But from a new card perspective, the 970 is a better card to get since it's a newer tech, newer features added to it, better architecture, better scaling and power efficiency, etc. The 780 at stock is faster, but it's a card that's completely EOL whereas the 970 is shiny and new.

I think Zotac AMP! GTX780Ti for $430 is a better deal. While 970 is clearly superior to a 780, a 780Ti for $430 once overclocked will give a 980 OC a run for the money.

From 77 to 87. 77 * 1.13 = 87. The 970 stock vs stock is about 13% faster.
