I use this system for all my graphics needs, daily driver, Games, 3D Arch and 16 security cameras on a GeoVision 1120. I have a LSI 8408-E in this system now so the SAS onboard would help.

Thanks, JASTECH

The Classified is for LN2 peps mostly or sub zero really, if not you then I think a Normal X58 from EVGA is a good one.
No experience with an ASUS X58............
Good luck!

The eVGA is mainly for OCing but you can't beat eVGA's CS and Warranty. Asus has mixed reviews around here. I love my eVGA boards and my Asus boards. How many PCIe cards do you have?

Totally fergot the 4 PCIe slots, but the cost is the killer for me. I was an EVGA person but now I realize what other boards offer too. Like the E8600 nobody with an EVGA board could go past a certain FSB, my X48 board did not sufer this issue.
I also like ASUS I hear many bashing them but I have had good CS from them always, same with EVGA.
How do you like the GA-P45 board? I hear good stuff about it...

eVGA has a much better customer service, and I always get my returns in a few days (next day, now that I live right down the street from them), and I always use their cross-shipping for $10-15 (can't remember now). Asus is good, but they're just average for CS. Not horrible at all. Just average. As for Skt775, eVGA used nVIDIA chipsets, but for LGA1366, they use Intel chipsets, so the comparison of a 7X0i chipset to a X48 chipset is null here, as both the Asus and eVGA boards use X58. And eVGA is a little better at releasing new BIOS updates on a timely manner. But I love my Asus P6T-Deluxe.

Also, I'd like to say about your "eVGA" comment about FSB, it was not eVGA, but the nVIDIA chipset. I have an eVGA 680i. Sure, it has a lot of FSB holes, but I got to know them, and could push PAST them. I got my old E6400 to 3.733GHz 90% stable on it (it would crash about once every 2 weeks). eVGA did good work, pushing out BIOS updates for my 680i when quad-cores came out.

As for my GA-EP45-UD3P, I haven't really pushed it because it's running a Hackintosh right now, so I don't have any temp monitor software that will work in Mac OS X. But right now it's at 3.33GHz so I can't really complain. It's a stable board but I really got it because it is 99% compatible with Mac OS X with current hack kits. Maybe someday I'll put a Windows OS on it and see how far I can push it. All I can say is, it's much better than my old 975X board.

eVGA has been making motherboards since the nForce 590's. They made 580/610i/630i/650i/680i/750i/780i/790i motherboards and now currently make X58 boards.

I am thinking maybe the EVGA X58 Classified 760 and now to figure out what video card. I have the EVGA 8800GTS 640 on this system going to my wife so need something for my new system. Any ideas?

Thanks, JASTECH

It would help to know your budget and what games you will be playing. It may also be prudent to wait a few more months if you can. With both ATI and nV scheduled to release their next gen products this year prices for current high-end cards will certainly start dropping.

Well, the eVGA X58 Classified 760 is a great board, and it's cheaper because it eliminates the NF200 chip.

As for a graphics card, you could wait, but ATi is scheduled for October 21st(?) and nVIDIA would be same date or up to 2 quarters later (aka 1 year from now). As for GFX now, the GTX275 and HD 4990 are good choices, but depends on your resolution and what games and your budget.

If you're refering to the inq Charlie is probably the only one talking about 2010. Most other rumors agree that nV will make Q4. Regardless of this retailers will start trying to lower their inventory long before then.

*** edit ***

It seems that this should move to the Video Cards and Graphics section.

I guess I need to upate my system on here. My SONY G520 is shot so I bought a Planar PX2611w and running at native res. I enjoy playing Unreal, COD, Quake Enemy Territorys and would like to delve into Far Cry 2 and other new or up coming games.
My video card right now seems to be acting up? (When scrolling graphics are choppy and if I use the wheel then I can let go and watch the screen slowly scroll until it stops).

GPU Diode Temp: 169f
GPU Memory: 158
GPU Ambient: 142
GPU: 158

Updated temp, left running at idle for about 30 minutes
I did add an extra fan on the "Fan Rack Door?" facing the VC to help keep it cool and those temps reflect the addition.

Thanks, JASTECH

Blaze, yea it's getting too far from the MB I was asking about. Ok, Back on track guys/girls. I think I would like SAS RAID available in case my MegaRAID dies but thinking of maybe just using on board SAS as it should be just as fast? If so then motherboards with:
i7, 24GB, SAS RAID,8x USB 2.0, 6 x SATAII and room to add 2 ATI/Nvidia, ASUS Xonar, LSI MegaRAID, GeoVision 1120

EVGA and the board w/o NF200 chip 419.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813188048

GIGABYTE GA-EX58-EXTREME 328.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813128361

OR?

Thanks, JASTECH

ASUS P6T Deluxe http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813131346

i7, 24GB max, 2xSAS Raid 0,1, 6xSATAII raid 0,1,5,10, 14xUSB 2.0 8 backpanel+6 midboard, 3xPCI-E 2.0 (x16/x16/x1), CF/SLI capable.
If you use 2 2slot VGAs you'll be left with 1 PCI and 1 PCI-E x4 for other cards.

Note that the P6T Deluxe V2 is identical but lucks the SAS ports.

Well you can't do more than raid 0, 1 with just 2 ports, can you? As for the link, that's just from newegg to give you a reading as to the price of the board. The specs that I've posted are different than what you see on newegg but that shouldn't come as a surprise. It's not the first time that newegg is inaccurate when it comes to specs. All specs that I listed were taken from the product's page here -> http://www.asus.com/product.as...82co6Q5v0BZ&templete=2

I have used at least 10 x58 mobos, this is the best for o/c. If you want better oc, go with Classfied

Blazer, Sorry I didn't know Newegg has them errors! I will start looking at the MFG sites, then check prices at the Egg Shop. I will be OC'ing the hardware. Looking at Lian Li V2110 for it's new home.

harbin, Are the EVGA Classic use better components (higher quality) then others?

I am asking all these questions to those who know these products so that I make the correct choice and everything will work together.

It looks like my funds will be available next week sometime so it's getting close. So where should I post what I am building this time to get ideas from others?
Thanks, JASTECH

IMO, Evga and Gigabyte use best materials to build mobo.
