Evga rma 6800nu

Hi there guys. Last week I sent in my 6800nu 128mb agp card. I had to do so last dec also. I get checkerboards that are blue during games and this one finally started doing it during bootup. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if they're going to replace it with another one of the same cards or a newer card since it's pretty old like other companies do? They got my old card last week so hopefully it finally ships out this week.
I'd call and ask but when I called them last week for the shipping address I had to deal with a very very rude customer service guy so I don't really want to call unless I must.. =\

eVGA should replace your old card with a newer model (doubt they have 6800s lying around nowadays, but you never know). You should have received an email from eVGA containing an UPS tracking number. If you didn't, it's best if you call up with your RMA ID/number and ask for one.

I find that their customer support is pretty much hit-and-miss these days, at least when it comes to their first-tier of support and discontinuation of cross-shipping. Think I have an idea of who you're talking about though, there is a certain person over there on the first tier that comes off as fairly rude - always manage to end up arguing with him until he transfers me to a higher-level rep.

I didn't have to call them at all when I did an RMA with them some months ago. You can set up everything directly through their website.

I'd say there's probably a 50/50 chance of getting a 6800nu back. I know LeadTek still has a handfull of 6800GTs for RMA's. Most of them seem to be bad though I'm going to take their option to 'stepup' to a 7800GS for another $80. Easier than having to deal with shipping a bunch of defective 6800GTs back to them to find one that'll work($14 a go hurts).

Yes I know you can set it up through their website. I did that, but the email never came so I called them asking for them to resend the email or gimme the address over the phone. The guy rambles on and on rudely about how he doesn't need to resend the email and that I don't even need it. Then I just ask for the address again and he just says the entire thing really fast and then tells me to check the website for it if I missed what he said.. I ended up calling back the next day and got someone helpful. He just asked my email address and resent the email with the pdf file in less than 10 seconds after I asked for it.

Anyways they've had my card since last week and still haven't shipped the replacement, really slow service. I'll be calling later today to see what is going on.

my roomate actually RMAd his 6800nu when they first came out and got a 6800gt agp.

so i doubt they have any now, as that was 2 years ago. hopefully they give you a 7600gs agp or something. i would assume that would be something they'd easily have in stock.

It's always best to stick to email and web site submission in order to have a record of everything.

This entire thread leaves me in awe as to why people order their high end equipment online.. Save a few extra bucks and buy from a local computer company and you will never have to deal with it.

Want to argue about prices? I got my my x1900gt for $200 from bestbuy.
I have gotten every single card/ highend equipment from a local shop so if it breaks or if its DOA, all I have to do is run down to bestbuy and exchange it.

I've been employed by and dealt with "local computer companies" over the last 20 or so years. The problem with them is that they come and go at the drop of a hat, and all you're left with in the long run is a manufacturer's warranty anyway.

And as far as retail outfits like Bestbuy - good luck exchanging it after 30 days, UNLESS you've forked out the money on top of their rediculous retail prices for their "extended warranty" option. This alone is why people buy stuff online, plus when you deal with a reputable vender like Newegg who will do what they can to help you out.

ummm, you mean if it breaks within 30 days? or pay for an extended warranty on top of ridiculous retail prices when some cards have lifetime warranties?

If a local store has a good deal, why not? Go for it?
But, why limit yourself to local stores?
If you get a product with warranty from a reputable manufacturer, you will be taken care of if needed.

i dont tget how this is relevant at all.

you cant return a card to best buy after 30 days or whatever anyway. and he bough that 6800 agp what sounds like 2 years ago.

not to mention best buy is more expensive than online stores 95% of the time. the fact that you got 1 video card for $200 for a x1900gt (which isnt even that good a price right now) is moot. if you go to best buy and try to get a 7600 GS right now its $150 or so, when at most online stores its $100 or less. that $50 is worth the very unlikely having to ship itback in the first 30 days for most people here.

Hmm. I haven't heard any calls in for 6800nu's for quite awhile (if ever), so there is a good chance you could get upgraded but, like most cards, there is always the chance we do have some in stock.

They sent it back Monday night and it's supposed to come Friday. The website track an rma thing says it's just another 6800. Hopefully they made sure it's a working one this time. Anyways, I had to email them twice during this whole thing and none of the emails were ever answered.
