evga step up concern

I was recently approved for the EVGA step up deal. I have the RMA number and instructions to send in my "old" 7800gt and get a 7900gt.

The catch is I cheated the system. The deal is I can only step up to a higher priced card.
But I bought my 7800gt with the motherboard for 359. And the 7900gt is priced at around 349. For some reason I was approved.
Now should i send in my old card (wait about 2.5 weeks for turnaround time) and run the risk of EVGA wising up and denying my transaction, or should I take the risk of steping up to a 7900gt.

I thought the step up program was based on msrp and not individual deals and such? If
thats the case then you are fine.

I would go to EVGA forums and have a look to see if anyone has already asked this.

If not, you can post your question.
EVGA representatives frequent those forums and answer posts if needed.

I think they changed the rules so that you could step up to a lower priced card? I think I remember reading that on the evga forums.

thanks for the replies.

You were right, I just read the forums and noticed that EVGA has allowed ppl to step up to lower priced cards.

So for about 30 dollars ($15 to send the card to EVGA and $15 for them to send the new card to me). So I sacrifice going about 2.5 weeks or maybe more without using my pc at all.

If EVGA had approved me a month ago for this deal, I would have easily gone though with it, since I was busy studing for the shelf, but now that the exams are over, I can't imagine going without any gaming/pc for that length of time.

And besides the diffence in performance isn't that great btw. the 7800gt and 7900gt. I can save my 30 bucks for a more substantial upgrade later on down the line right.

Am I foolish for not wanting to go through with this deal, after it has been approved.

I know what you mean, I just sent in my card on wendsday and it's hell without a computer, I'm at school right now and the only other computer in my family is my sisters laptop that she is always using. I can rarely use a computer at home anymore.

But, the new card at stock is better and if you get a better cooler (any zalman or arctic cooling) and volt mod it you can have a 7900GTX. I think the wait is worth it and you won't have to upgrade as soon with this deal ($30 does not mean much to buying a new card)

mrgq912 READ THIS POST VERY CAREFULLY!!!!!

Ok let me clarify it because your obviously confused.

Forget about the 7900GT go for the 7900GT co superoverclocked if you can. If not the 7900GT is still worth it becuase its pretty overclocking friendly from what I recall.

I also bought the 7800GT videocard motherboard combo for $359. The motherboard was supposed to be free but the retailers added approx $50 for the bundle deals. As far as EVGA is concerned you paid $359 for just the videocard.

I did the step up program and went to a 7900GT co superoverclocked for just the cost of shipping!!!! I sent it via UPS 5 day ground. They got it last Friday. I selected 3 day select for shipping it back to me. I got it yesterday!!! So the turn around was less than 2 weeks. You could always speed it up by paying more and having it shipped faster either/both ways.

If you don't do this deal your just a dummy (not being mean just proding you a little This may help you in your decisions as well SHARKYS HIGH-END PC FOR MARCH 2006. Read it and send in that freaking card!!!!!
