which price difference do i get to pay.... the price difference between the gts and the gtx when they were first released or the difference of todays prices?

You pay the difference between what you paid out the door for the GTS vs the MSRP EVGA is charging for the GTX.

You pay $309. MSRP for GTX is $619. You pay the $310 difference plus shipping.

Not really worth it IMO.

Yep, plus alot of the time they are out of stock on the cards you want to step up to. That program sucks.

So since prices go down on a product as time goes by... if u want to step up u get to pay.... omg this is retarded i dont need to end the sentence... it just doesnt make any sense

The hell with this maybe i shoulb buy a cheap dx9 vidcard for now untill some true dx10 cards come out... does that make sense??? then maybe i can use that stupid or stepup program... and newb55 says they might not even have it on stock.

It only makes sense in certain situations.

Early adopters who paid $460+ for their GTS 640mb, people who buy from B&M stores, people who buy a card right before the refresh comes out and get ripped off and other miscellaneous situations.

I remember when the 79xx series came out. I paid $330 for a 7800GT and on day 89 I stepped up to the vanilla 7900GT which cost $299. I actually got a 7900GT for free.

Yup, I had a friend in a similar situation. Except from 7800GTX - 7900GTX.

A lot of the time they are out of stock? Uh... no. Even if they are out of stock, they get them in pretty quickly. I can't tell if you are a troll, or truly can't see some benefits of a program like this. I am going with the former.

Its only good for early adapters or those who dont wait for prices to go down... coz when gts was released it was 460 now its 309... so this program is not for plp on a budget... which i wrongly mistaked it for... and still early adapters not always get new cards within 3 months... usually its 6 months... so this program is relle worth it for special situations like urs matt... but i doubt it we will see another 7800 -> 7900 scenario...
like in this case what better card than gts 640 can come out within 3 months for about $300-350 ? i doubt it

I relle thought the program was u pay the difference of the MSRPs when cards are announced....

yes you have to send them the old card plus all the packaging that came with it. The card has to be registered with evga too, not a big deal. I missed that 7900 deal because I threw away the box my 7800gtx came in.
