This is why I'm very wary of participating in forums. On one hand, you contribute to the problem of forum watering down, where you have hundreds or thousands of threads that are all generally the same thing, which frequently go off topic and many don't actually have any kind of resolution. On the other, you have this, which those that are smart but a little on the helpless side get all bent out of shape and all hell breaks loose. On another forum, these links are blatently banned, though I think it's funny and fine.

What we've got here, is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here this week, which is the way they want it. Well, they get it.
But I like it, much more than you men.

Actually I understand your problem, and why you are frustrated.

In many hobbies, be it electronics, automotive, the need for a specialized screw/ gasket that costs little can cause huge hurdles to find. With cars, electronic projects, you might need a certain screw of a size, thread design, length, type that is just not found in a magic bin at home depot. Same goes for gaskets /shims/ thermal pads !
When you get your answer and fix your card, be sure to help the community with how you did it.
Many 5 series AMD cards had thermal pad burns, so they needed to be replaced. Any time a card is taken apart, ideally those pads are also changed. They go through a initial squish which can't be reused ideally.
Feel your pain, but learn from this ?

My friends and I call EVGA the douchebags of the GPU industry. Honestly, don't have anything against them or their products, just kind of a running joke because of this vibe they have.
Regardless, we got a good laugh out of this since it fits that description quite well.

I find eVGA to be a company that builds solid products, provides the best customer support, the best 3rd party software for overclocking (the only for the GTX 680 I think), and they stand behind their products. They also commit real cash money to support Folding@Home. They are the enthusiasts friend in a sea of "me to" douchebags.

Let me guess... you're Zoson in that forum.

If you are, you really came off as a whiny SOB.

Good! Maybe people will learn to start Googling technical related things instead of asking me, and I end up Googling them.

What am I saying... they never learn!

It was a joke, and I explained it two posts further down the page. I have no ill will towards eVGA. Seems like taking jokes a bit too seriously is a common theme in this thread, so I'll delete my post to avoid further misinterpretation.

From a quick look at that thread and some googling around it appears they are likely volunteers. As in they don't get paid by EVGA, and don't represent EVGA.

That is a non-excuse. Obviously someone somewhere works for EVGA who has implemented the forum and assigned moderators, either directly or indirectly. The moderators represent EVGA the same as any other volunteer or unpaid intern represents the company they work for.

Ultimately, there is a way for EVGA to remove undesired moderators. Letting them make these sorts of childish posts is a sign of acceptance or worse, a sign that they just don't care at all.

Fun at a paying customer's expense is not good business sense.

EVGA might be better off without a few high-maintenance crybabies as customers. I'm neither shocked nor offended by this one moderator's actions so I'd buy from them again.

Wow. You posted this on two different forums?
He's not even a part of the EVGA support group. He's just a mod, and if it was that important, you should have called them.
Saying EVGA's support is lame and unprofessional because a forum mod gave you a LMGTFY link is just LOL.
