Well its funny because it says that the XFX card has 16 pipes. Maybe its a rebadged 6800GT but most likely its a typo. I would go with EVGA.

Edit: Unless that XFX really does have all 16 pipes of course.

AFAIK the G only stands for Graphics, so it could just as easily be GDDR1, ie the same thing as on any other 6800.

If the pics are correct, the EVGA has a much better cooler with ram sinks like the GT uses. Comes with Far Cry too. The XFX has dual DVI,

DDR != GDDR, AFAIK.

I think all those sites are just quoting XFX's PR, which in turn is just quoting nV's 6800-series PR. I wouldn't expect 16 pipes or GDDR3 on a $300 card. Click on the detailed specs link on the Tiger Direct page and you see (beyond the obvious typo of "352" rather than 325MHz) the XFX must be 12 pipe, as 325MHz * 12 pipes gives you the quoted "3.9 billion pixels" per second fillrate. There's also no sense in offering 350MHz GDDR3, when supplies are tight enough as it is just supplying memory for the relatively low-volume GTs and Pros.

Dual DVI is a nice feature, though. The XFX also has an interesting game bundle, with X2 and Commandos 2 (and MotoGP2? I can't tell). The DVI and bundle may offset the eVGA's superior HSF.

DDR is not the same as GDDR.

If you haven't noticed that the speeds of GDDR are much much higher than regular DDR.

The G stands for Graphics.

ALso GDDR consumes a lot less power than regular DDR.

I believe they attain this speed by improved branch prediction, and what not... search for some articles when GDDR3 came out and they will go more in depth.

Superscalar 16-pipe GPU Architecture
... looks like a general discription from XFX to the retailers.

Newegg site said MSI r9800 was openGL1.5, I emailed newegg and he said that they dont write the discriptions and to contact the manufacturer. MSI site said same, !but! within a few days neweggs site started saying openGL2.0. So it looks like even the producer may not know.... But

/* Performance

* Memory Interface: 256-bit
* Memory Bandwidth (GB/sec.): 22.4
* Fill Rate (billion texels/sec.): 3.9
* Vertices/sec. (million): 406
* Memory Data Rate: 700
* Pixels per clock (peak): 12
* Textures per pixel (max in a single rendering pass): 16
* RAMDACs (MHz): 400
*/
....from xfx site.

Its got 12 pipes.

BTW is commandos a good game? ...

I would like to know how good commandos is also? I am trying to decide between these to cards also and since they both seem to run 325/700 overclocking and game bundle are all that matter now. Duel DVI doesn't really help me, but it is cool to have. Would the EVGA overclock better, since the heatsink looks better? I already have X2 but I don't have Far Cry, so I am leaning toward the evga. By the way X2 is pretty cool. You can do anything you want and has lots of replay value. It is not a real fast action game though. Also the graphics are very good. Just look at some screenshots.
