Eviction Notice to the wrong apartment?

Maybe I'm a little more miffed about this than I should be, but does anyone else see any broader issues with the county deputy/constable slapping an eviction notice on my door for the apartment upstairs? Not to bust on cops specifically, but had this been a more serious offense, I don't want any no-knock busting into my apartment. It's clearly marked in multiple places for apartment #X and I'm in apartment #Y (and I pay my bills).

Now I'm wondering who to contact (if anyone), the complex (plantiff), the defendant (the person upstairs), the defendant's attorney (listed on the notice), the sheriff/constable's office, or the justice of the peace (signer of the notice).

If there's no number on it, call the cops and tell them they messed up. If the person who lives there didn't get the eviction notice, the time line for them getting evicted has been changed...

Edit: Letting the person who placed it know that they put it in the wrong place means they'll have to contact the other parties and get their ass chewed out. You don't really need to deal with it anymore.

What's the chance the notice was delivered / placed correctly and then moved by someone else (maybe the guy in Apt #X?) so they could claim the notice never arrived? The process servers (sheriff) need to be notified now.

The complex

They're the ones losing money the longer that person stays there, so make them do the work -- it's in their interest.

Nah, you save that for cases where they move your desk into the basement storage closet and steal your stapler.

Do people really have to create a thread on what do or who to call if something like this happens?

Is there no more common sense left at all anywhere???

Surely, there is phone number somewhere on the eviction notice...and in the event that there isn't one or you can't find it, then call your apartment complex and tell them there was an eviction notice posted on your door in error.

Really, it's that simple....

Evidently. A percentage of ATOT is fucking clueless in life.

Can I get a big, fat "DUH" for the OP?

Sheriff and apt complex. Even would call the attorney for the plaintiff. He needs to know service didn't happen straight away.

I'd say your best bet is to post about it on ATOT and then go back to eating cheez balls.

I would just file a police report online. Most counties have this service now. Should the deputy ever try to bust down your door and evict you, show him a printed copy of your police report and tell him your forwarding it to his LT/watch commander.
