Daigo not making top 8 and Justin not winning MVC3 were pretty surprising. Wolfkrone getting eliminated so early was also a wtf moment. Glad Latif could pull off some amazing wins though. Tokido, Daigo, and Poongko in a row.

Daigo made top 8l. I watched it. Poongko perfected him and absolutely destroyed him to put him out in like 4th place or something.

Since I missed the live broadcast, is there any way to view the matches? I clicked on the link but just saw two guys talking.

I was there at Evo when poongko bodied daigo ... It was insane how loud the place got. Also when pr rog made the comeback with tron in mvc3 finals that was insane. I caught that in video so when I get a chance I'll post it on YouTube and share.

That was the highlight of Evo 2011 for me... lolphoenix

EDIT: Justin's comeback during Top 32 was cool too.

yah i unfortunately had to leave during the top 8 of AE, since they were like 2 hours behind schedule and I had a show I had tickets for at 9:30. so I left after the 5th match in top 8.

it also sucked total ass because my joystick malfunctioned during button checks in my first AE match. in PS3 mode, when i pressed a direction, it would fierce punch. i had practiced literally minutes before, on the PC version of AE, but the PC version uses my joystick in Xbox360 mode, and that worrked fine.

so i was pissed about that, and had to use someone elses joystick. totally didn't do as good as i could have since my joystick is extremely custom and just what i'm used to. i was at least happy that he let me put my octo gate in it. i went 3-2 in AE. first loss was to Air, and 2nd loss was to a chun in the losers semi final.

3-2 isn't too bad and Air is no pushover. Better than my friend I had planned to go with. He went 2 and out. >_> Really sucks about your stick though. That was probably a mental setback more than anything.

yah it was a blower big time. i mean i know i dropped stuff specifically because of it which just pisses me off. the judge at my pool felt really bad for me too and he was kind of helping me out by not making me play when initially scheduled because i had to wait for my friends stick (he was in pools at the same time) so that was really cool of him.

to be perfectly honest, out of the 5 people i faced, there were really only 3 good players. the other 2 that i beat weren't that good. you can just tell when people know what they are doing, and i could clearly tell they didn't know. like they would try to jump in on me (balrog) like 3-4 times a round, and i would cr.fp it every time.

the other good player i beat was a fei player. but the spacing i had in that match was pretty much flawless. i beat him 2-0 first match, then 2-1 second match. he just couldn't get around my spacing and could never get in on me.

A lot of people don't realize you don't have to be "pro" to attend tournaments. There are a lot of players who go for the experience and to get better, not because they are great.

yah definitely. i was just shocked at the sheer amount of people in the auditorium at the finals. i mean that room is HHUUGGEE. it's freaking insane how big it is, and it was pretty much packed full. i have a video i took of the last parts of the last match of Winners Finals in MVC3 where PR Rog made his comback. i'll post it up when I have some time tonight. it's insane how crazy everyone goes. i got a couple pics too that I can post up.

here is the video i took of the mvc3 winners finals where pr rog made his crucial comeback...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLZS_pdqiC0

screen isn't too clear but i was recording mainly for the reaction since I thought the MVC3 tourney was going to be over, but it ended up being even better with the comeback and reset.

Yeah I saw it on the stream. That Tron grab was insane. Really good evo with lots of big moments. I think i'll drive out there next year just to spectate.

The other cool thing was that 8 year old making top 48 out of like 1000 in Marvel.

I have been watching the PR Rog vs Viscant finale videos all over Youtube but not a single one of them shows the final match. I read that Viscant wins but the final match all the videos show is PR Rog beating him with Tron. What am I missing?

*P.S. The last time I played 2D fighting games extensively was SF2 on the Super Nintendo so all these celeb names and terminology is new to me.

viscant got to grand finals out of winners bracket, and PR Rog got there out of losers. So PR Rog had to beat him 2 sets in order to win the tournament, since it is double elimination. The Tron comeback where PR Rog beats viscant was the last match in the first set, so PR Rog sent Viscant to losers bracket. So basically they both had 1 loss at this point, and the winner of the next match won it all.

Viscant pretty much destroyed PR Rog in the second set, 3-0.
