No. - To simply put it.

Do you believe God is omnscient? As in he can see into the past and the future?

Yes and No, but I'm at a loss for words as to how to explain it the way I believe. I know what you are getting at, because if I answer "yes" then that would mean that everyone has a predetermined destination because God already knows where they are going.

I don't think it means we are predestined. It just means time doesn't exist in the realm of God. So when God does something it is seen from beginning to end in one go. Because time doesn't exist for God. This doesnt mean your life is determined but God does know what you are ultimately going to do.

Edited: took of the "he", i don't know what god is or if he exists. damn it

I know it doesn't try to explain the origin of life, but most evolutionists must have some theory as to how life came to be if they don't believe in a higher being who created life.

Read up on The Synthetic Theory.

Where did the first living things come from?
Text

Where did everything as we know it evolve from?
All organisms came from pre-existing organisms by either: Punctuated equilibrium (my personal view) or Gradualism.

How did the universe and such "evolve" from nothing?
The origin of the universe before the "big bang" is unknown.

But, we all know that this thread is not going to be about a scientific discussion, just a flame war between atheists and Christians.

I believe that he is knows the general direction that the earth is going to go. (as in it's people) But I don't believe that he has determined everyone's life, I believe that he left that up to us.

I don't think evolutionary theory applies to the formation of the universe, nor does any scientific theory assume that the universe came from nothing.

"Where did everything as we know it evolve from?"

dunno, maybe we'll figure that one out eventually

"How did the universe and such "evolve" from nothing? (If that is the case)"

smart money's on that not being the case.

There is no general direction. If god exists, god knows. Plan and simple. The definition of omniscient is: Knowing everything.

IF god created you, at that very moment(whatever a moment is to God) the events of your life are known.

What perplexes me is this: If god knows I am not going to choose to go with God, why would God create me? Why not just make all the people God knows will go with God?

I'm not trying to prove anything, I want to know what the other "side" believes. I'm a very open-minded christian, and I am interested in it. I try to give everything else a chance, although I'm ultimately a christian, and will probably always be one.

How do you suppose that works? Does he willfully limit himself to only a general knowledge of human affairs? Or is he incapable of seeing the results of our actions?

Edit: My point here is that if he decides to lets our future actions be beyond his knowledge, then the fact that he could very well see them if he wanted to presents a problem. He doesn't have to actually KNOW the future, but be capable of knowing it to ensure that our lives are absolutely prescripted.

The other option is sort of scary because that introduces the idea of a severely limited "god".

To answer the OP.

1. I don't know, you don't know, nobody knows.
2. Again... I don't know, You don't know, NOBODY KNOWS!

Also, evolution is not a theory for explaining where we came from. It is the theory that explains to us why we are what we have become through time.

A sidenote: You should rethink your questions you are asking the same thing twice.

I know many Christians than are evolutionists. They believe that god is the ultimate origin of the universe and created everything we know via evolution (and maybe a nudge here and there).

The scientific evidence of evolution is far too great to ignore.

Also, Evolution is not the antithesis to Creationism
Big Bang is what you should be looking for.

If you think about, who is to say Big Bang is wrong. Even if we were created by God, what if God used the "Big Bang" as the intro to life. If you think of it that way, the idea of a big bang should be acceptable by everyone.

EDITED: "He" again and mixed up sentence

I'm sorry that you are closed minded, and don't want to know what christianity is. Yes, you may know the general beliefs, but you probably don't know a lot about it, just like I don't know a lot about evolution, but I'd like to know more, so that I don't sound like an idiot when trying to press my beliefs on others.

I never said I don't believe in evolution, because I do to an extent, I just don't know what many evolutionists who don't believe in a God think things came from.

How is it a joke? When you are debating, isn't the best way to convince someone by knowing both their side and your side equally well?

Um... if you are a christian your goal is not to convince someone. It is winning them over with the love of Jesus through yourself. You didn't say "debating" you said press your beliefs on someone.

Read my post above. You are mixing up concepts.

Whoa

According to this guy you don't have to believe in evolution. That's because the earth is really 6000 years old and dinosaurs are the dragons of our ancient folklore.

For some strange reason I watched this video in it's entirety (2hrs30min of nothing, but the guys so damn entertaining...)
