Put a fancy bezel on that 6X and charge 50% more for it (you can get the aluminum Tsunami for less). Should include a PSU at that price - HEC PSUs are decent. IAC, those old designs are too shallow. Since the reason you're looking at cases is to get a bit more clearance for your mobo, these old Antec brothers won't do it for you...

.bh.

Oh I know they wont do. I am just curious about these mid tower designs. I may be wrong, but I imagine none of these boxes are going to give me greater card depth than my CM 631, which I have managed to make work with the ABIT IP 35 Pro XE and its SATA ports facing the HD cage. Yeah, I am just going to keep sticking with my cute aluminum case until I decide to get a(nother) full tower and really go nuts. That said, I am finally about to grab an R5605 for a nice, quiet office machine that I will build for someone else. (that, and bc I am no longer able to resist the temptation to check one out after years of drooling).

EDIT:
Just pulled the trigger on the R5605. Will report back with my impressions once it gets here.

My R5605 is here and yes, it is one solid classic mid tower as advertised! Thanks again to Zepper for the recommendation. It has been a long time coming. I have just busted it open and taken a few pictures of things that interested me that I did not notice elsewhere.

I am really glad to say that the card depth is a full 1/2" greater than my Cooler Master Mystique CM 631 (11 7/8") -->http://tinyurl.com/ygqff8r. It looks like I have the excuse I needed to go ahead and move my Abit IP35 Pro XE into it after all

Some reviewers complained of a noisy front headphone jack. Since the front panel board is mounted in a cut out in the plastic bezel, I will be grounding it to the chassis. Here is a pic of a nearby hole to sock the ground wire into -->http://tinyurl.com/ylsd6v8. Thanks again to Zepper for recommending grounding this board. (He once did a thorough tutorial on how to do this to a CM 690. Here's the link --> http://tinyurl.com/yk38okx (EDIT: an excellent tutorial for the CM 690 but, as it turned out, all I needed to to was attach a wire to a terminal screw at each end for the R5605)

Here is a picture of the tool-less PCI card holder: http://tinyurl.com/yh4tgfq I use these things until I get my system solid, then I break out the thumb screws (I bought a load of them from Computer Geeks like five years ago.. still plenty left).

One thing I just remembered: some people complained that they broke off the clips that hold the bezel on. Umm, be sure to release all six clips when removing the bezel. You need to remove both doors to gain access to three of them. Ok, you knew this already.

Here's the front fan housing -->http://tinyurl.com/y8r9s4v

...and the front fan filter -->http://tinyurl.com/ybkfmbs

OK, perhaps I will have more to say once I build this thing out... but maybe not. I am not sure I will find much more to add to the conversation that has not already been said. It's a great case... and, yes, the deal's still going on. Oh yeah, the thrown in four port USB hub is tiny, 1 1/16" square, w/a 6" cord. Perfect for a laptop that needs that extra USB port.. (aka: mine).

Glad you like it. Are they still using those threadless pins for holding the hard drive rails in place? That's one other thing I didn't like.

Yeah they are. I do remember you saying that you did not like them. I remember encountering threadless pins before. I do not remember being too emotional one way or the other... but it was a long time ago. Seem like pretty quiet HD rails, though, with grommets. I have managed to put the case away until tomorrow. It was not easy, but I somehow pulled it off! ...a pleasant surprise: the door latch is very, very solid. I liked it so much, I got out my magnifying glass and read the manufacturer's URL off of it -->http://sj.en.alibaba.com/

What a tank! Thanks again for the OP, man!

Yup, latch is solid but rattley - got to put a screw in if you've got an old SCSI drive in the box.

Ah ok. That makes sense. No SCSI drives left in my main system, so perhaps I will not hear it.

shingle,

Well, I'm not being paid by the Egg, are you? Besides, the link in the top post makes if obvious. When you are posting the thread, do it the way you want...

I have finished building out my R5605. Everything went great. Some observations:

-There was space at the top to stash excess cable.
-There was ample card depth to accommodate my Abit IP 35 XE, as I anticipated there would be.
-I was lucky enough to have the identical HD rail screws with threads, so I tossed the supplied threadless screws.
-I took the hot glue gun to the case speaker assembly, which wanted to fall off the case whenever it was touched by a cable.
-Grounding the front panel was a piece of cake.
-I installed a reset switch at the rear/top of the front panel, facing backwards. I also installed an altenative power switch up there, as there is a two year old around here who likes to hit random switches.
-I also installed a SPDT toggle switch with a center off position inside the bezel that switches between the two power switches and provides a kill switch capability. I do not need a kill switch, but the switch I had lying around had the center off position, so I ran with it.

Here are some photos of the mods:
-->Front panel ground strap in place
-->I used 9.5mm high tact switches for power and reset
-->Reset switch installed in rear/top of front panel (power switch is identical, on the opposite end)
-->Toggle switch installed behind bezel

BTW, the product page on Yeong Yang's site is excellent and has a few more pictures here-->... and more here-->

The deal is still going on, except they are not longer throwing in the USB hub.
