It's in the B and M store. I'm posting this because I've spent a lot of time researching receivers in the $500 range, and everyone raves about the Pioneer 1014.

Here's a link to one of the discussions: Pioneer 1014 at AVSForum

do you know if it has descent crossover settings? I bought the 812 a while ago which has a prettty nice feature set, but the only crossover settigns you can use are 120hz or 100hz which makes it useless unless you have crappy little HTIB speakers. If you can set the crossover at sometime like 60 that would be ideal for medium sized bookshelf speakers.

I just saw this in the Sunday ads too and was going to post on it. This was an amazing deal when it was $500 even.

It has the same internals as the Pioneer Elite VSX-52TX. Actual output measured above 100 watts x 7 20hz - 20khz. This is the real deal for power, not some POS 20 pound receiver that says 7 x 100 watts. A friend of mine got this to power his Paradigm Phantom setup and he loves it.

I don't have personal experience with the crossover, but it will certainly have more options than 100 or 120. If I had to guess, you can probably set it as low as 40 and as high as 200. It will certainly give you the THX standard 80hz.

One of the really nice things about this one is that it has MCACC and comes with a microphone to help you calibrate your speakers automatically and adjusts an equilizer to help you get the most from your room acoustics.

If you're looking for a receiver under $600, I think it would be very hard to find something with this much clean power and the features this model has.

Wow, that looks like a hot deal, but would probably be overkill for me who mainly uses a reciever to pump MP3's from my PCs soundcard through 2 speakers.

This deal works for ONLINE too, (not sure about the 10%)

It shows as $499 but when you add it to your cart it is $399

Maybe he's talking about the "preferred customer" mail coupons that end today. I don't remember getting one, although some people often get them on the last day they are good. I'll have to check the mail, because an extra $40 off is pretty nice.

I picked this up along with some Klipsch speakers at the end of January & I really like it. I went with the bookshelfs in the front so I left the crossover at the default of 80. I haven't checked to see if it can go lower or not. I figured that would be a good point to let the sub take over.

I've been looking at this receiver for a while (BB had it for $399 around Christmas), and finally decided to get it. Called J&R who were happy to match BB's online price, so I got it for $399 delivered (saved me $35 in taxes )

My best friend just got it, and he loves it. He went with me when we listened to the Denon line, and he thinks the sound quality compares with the 2105 (a $650 receiver).

I would have gotten one myself, but I couldn't resist when uBid had a refurbished Denon 3805 for $699. My new baby is coming home tomorrow!

One thing this 1014 has that I wouldn't do without is the auto setup feature. I love this new feature among quality receivers which automatically detects the distance and volume levels of your speakers, and equalizes it. For people like me, who have more to learn before we can set up a receiver properly, this feature is a must. (On the Harmon Kardons it's called "EZ-Set", on the Pioneer it's called MCACC I think. I forgot what Denon calls it, but you have to have the 2105 and up to get this feature.)

Good deal! Thanks OP!

My 3803 rocks, I'm sure you're going to enjoy your 3805!

Unauthorized retailer I believe....meaning your warranty from Pioneer is void...

but you could always add theirs for an addtional fee...

Best Buy just restocked these receivers - check again if you are interested.

Yesterday I drove 100 minutes to Richmond to pick one up. I found an open box which is completely functional, with 10% off coupon, came to $310.99.

One problem. Since I was so far away I wanted to open the box up and look for the remote control.....good thing since there was no remote in the box. The salesman grabbed a display remote for me. I find that it's not the correct remote, there are advanced features that are not present on the remote I was given.

So now that my 10% off coupon is GONE FOR GOOD up in Richmond, 100 minutes away, I'm trying to weigh my options. Maybe I will call in another store and see if they will honor 10% off on a new one. I really hate to disconnect all these speakers and so forth though. I might call and see if I can get a remote.

I might also just call Pioneer on Monday and see if they'll send me a remote.

This receiver also has video switching. You can run one set of component outs to your display device (DLP projector in my case) and switch between multiple video inputs. Very handy feature.

If you need more than two component connections, just get a device like the following:
http://www.audioauthority.com/aacconsumers/1154c.html

Add one of those to each of the component inputs and you suddenly have EIGHT (8, ocho) component connections. :-D

but yeah, if you're willing to go without a warranty, you can certainly get it for $30 cheaper.

This deal looks dead, BB.com no longer has it for $399, it's gone back to $499. Can anyone confirm that this is dead, or am I missing something?
