No, I mean it. It changes my whole damn experience. When I don't exercise, I lose touch with my body. Its like its not even there. Its just a useless piece of meat that weakens and tires easily, and it happens to be attached to my mind, slowing me down.
When I push myself and get a good running routine down, and stick to it, wow. I feel connected to my body again, like its actually useful. I can feel my muscles repairing themselves and I know what my body can and can't do, because I push it on a regular basis. Its like a fighter pilot who intentionally stalls his aircraft so he can learn it's limits. Its necessary to be connected and in touch with myself.
Attitude improves as does self esteem. I have a more positive outlook. I feel strong, able and younger. I feel like there is a reason to eat food other than taste. After running, I get hungry which lets me know that food serves a purpose other than to fill my lazy gut 3 times a day.
The lung muscles actually feel worked from breathing so aggressively. The heart pumps easier doing day to day tasks and I don't sweat easily.
When was the last time you felt that tight, strong feeling in your calves and legs? Go get you some!

exercise also gives you more energy, which a lot of lazy people do not get and can't understand. it also instills discipline into a person and helps your mental health, as you mentioned as well.

i've been active consistently since i was a child and am now in my 30's and do not plan on stopping any time soon.

If I don't exercise regularly, I am in a murderous rage half the time and feel like a slug.

When I exercise regularly, I am in a murderous rage half the time, and have the strength and stamina to act on that.

I don't understand it and I asked it earlier and no one had an answer.

If (Calories = Energy)
AND
Exercise = Calories--
THEN
Exercise = Energy--
End if

Please explain

calories don't equal energy. why do you think most fat/obese people have no energy to do anything other than sit around and eat, even though they eat 6k+ calories a day?

your base math is off.

calories can be used as fuel for us to do activities, but just because you consume them doesn't mean you have energy to do those activities. just because your car has a full gas tank doesn't mean it is constantly burning gas.

here is a quick link i found with a google search.

http://heavenlyhomemakers.com/why-exercise-gives-you-more-energy

When we exercise, we increase blood flow. This helps deliver more oxygen throughout our bodies. We need that oxygen to create energy. As more oxygen is being delivered throughout our bodies, more energy is created. Therefore, after a workout, you are likely to find that you feel much more energetic.

Also, exercise releases endorphins in our bodies. You don’t want me to go into the chemistry mumbo-jumbo to explain that, so I’ll just say that endorphins released in our bodies will give us a “feel good” sensation. In addition, working out gets us in better shape which in the long run means that we don’t get as tired as quickly, which is much like having extra energy.

Exercise allows me to drink all the beer I want and still wear the same size clothes. Don't tell the guys in H&F.

I exercise and my body hurts. I don't exercise,my body hurts and I look/feel like the blob.

Energy is more of a hormone thing. You ever watch those shows where a 500lb man starts exercising?

Merely getting winded usually winds up with them vomiting. Its so traumatic to their system.

Those people are the luckiest of all, because they have the most to gain. Going from actually *knowing* you can't do something to suddenly finding yourself doing it is an amazing feeling of power and greatness. That's addictive. I've known fat, weak and lazy people who stuck to working out and then they turn into absolute monsters that can't be touched by the average person.

I felt like that too for the first few months. Now it's just the new normal. I still feel tired sometimes; Still feel fuzzy headed sometimes; Still feel like shit sometimes. I can tell myself that however I feel now, I'd only feel worse if I didn't exercise every day, but the truth is that the memory of how I felt before I started exercising has gotten fuzzy enough for that not to have the impact that it should.

Enjoy it while you can. Your expectations will always adjust to whatever your condition is and make it all feel like nothing eventually though.

Every time I've tried exercising regularly I've hated it. It doesn't make me feel better, it chews up a lot of time, and when I'm done, I just want to sleep. Exercising has never helped me lose weight, and not exercising hasn't resulted in me gaining weight either.

I wish I could enjoy exercise but I just can't.

Lifting makes me constantly hungry and I end up putting on a bunch of weight.
Running I don't like but usually run about 20mi/week although right now I'm doing 0.
Regular exercise causes my blood pressure to increase.
I run if I start putting on weight because I have no desire to get fat but other than that I hate everything about exercise. It makes me hot, tired and depressed.

A good sign there is something wrong: You begin feeling less energized after regular exercise.

I was always extremely active and fit into my early 20s. And then I began to get really tired. I have tried over and over again to get active -- because I know being active means better energy -- but the more active I was getting the worse I felt.

That was the first major sign of my MS.

So if exercise isn't making you feel better go see a doctor.

Ps- excercise can be as little as regular walking.

Multiple Sclerosis an autoimmune disease. Your body attacked the fatty insulation around the nerves in your brain and/or spinal cord. These show up as plaque/scarring. The damaged nerves results in a host of neurological symptoms that progress and relapse in a number of distinctive patterns.

That said there are a LOT of potential causes of your fatigue. My doctors didn't narrow down to MS even afte I had Trigeminal Neuralgia. No scars on MRIs = no MS. Well, a couple years later (and two brain surgeries later) I developed drop foot. Thankfully my episodes are far apart. But the fatigue was the first and most blatant symptom.

Exercise is not meant to be easy but the reward is worth it. To lose weight you have to MINIMIZE your intake. Drink lots of waterwhen you get hungry

i'll still be active when i have kids.

the ones that have kids and say they don't have time are simply making excuses. the "i dont have time to exercise" is probably the most common yet worst excuse possible.

It's very obvious that you don't have kids.

The good news is when you do have them you care much less about your appearance.

yes, because exercise is all about appearances.

and i have plenty of friends who have kids and are still very active, i'm not concerned at all about being able to exercise after i do have kids. i know i will still do it because i won't be full of excuses like most people who use their kids as an excuse as to why they don't.
