seems like a decent deal considering how expensive some blu-rays are going for now ... but relatively limited selection of what you can exchange too I suppose ...

1. Go the the site listed below, Select the HD DVD titles you want to exchange for Blu-rays.
* Limit one exchange per title
* Upgrade fee of $4.95 per title
* Shipping fee of $6.95 per order ($8.95 per order for Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico)
2. Mail the original cover-art to Warner's processing center
3. Receive new discs in 4-5 weeks

you can find out more info at this site:

http://www.red2blu.com/products.html

enjoy!

yeah, that part I don't quite get ... that's what the website says ... I personally don't have any HD-DVDs ... (but am tempted to pick some up on the cheap now) ... so I can't really say, but that's what WB says on their site, right?

Has anyone tried this out?

Any confirmations?

While it looks that most are $4.95 to "upgrade", a few are $9.95 and Blade Runner is $14.95.

Those are all multi-disc sets (as it happens I have both Planet Earth and Blade Runner on HD DVD).

This is a stretch, but, does anyone have the The Ultimate Matrix Collection on HD DVD, still have the paper cover that was glued to the back of the box and are not going to use it to turn it in for this deal? If so, IM me. I'd like to upgrade a bunch of my discs. I remember that stupid paper cover. I kept it on my set for months, then recently threw it away.

I'll have to jump on this for Planet Earth and Matrix Ultimate Collection. That's about $125 in HD-DVDs that are only useful as long as I have my Xbox360 HD-DVD drive hooked up.

As for Transformers and a few others, keep in mind that this is a Warner Brothers offer, and I think the other discs were probably put out by Paramount.

I'm actually surprised Warner Brothers had anything to do with the Planet Earth series, but that's good news for those of us who shelled out the bucks for the set on HD-DVD.

This is kinda cool. I can get new copies of planet earth, the harry potter box set, and some others and still get to keep the old discs? I'll just leave the new ones in their boxes until my HD-dvd combo drive does not work anymore. Seems cool to me...

I think only the BBC version of Planet Earth was distributed by Warner, so if you have the Discovery Channel version (as I do), I think you may be out of luck. I have an e-mail in to them to inquire about this.

That awesome because I have the BBC version of Planet Earth. I only paid $37 for it too.

The new official piece they are asking for is the sleeve from matrix revolutions (second movie) as they were not sold individually. the site hasn't updated yet on the front page but right before checkout it will tell you to send the sleeve for the second movie instead.

Thanks. I already saw JackBurton's post in another thread.. Sounds like WB may have planned for people not to have that piece of paper glued to the box. BTW, The Matrix Revolutions is the third movie.

I got a response from Red2Blu, and they say the American Discovery Channel set DOES qualify for the upgrade. Woohoo! Everything I've read is that the BBC version is better than the Discovery Channel one, so I'm pleased to be making the upgrade.

update: box sets have gone up in price. Matrix Ultimate is now $20, Planet Earth was up to $15 but has disappeared, at least temporarily. With the $7 shipping, this is bordering on not worth it anymore.

The shipping is for each order, not per HD DVD.

Man, wonder why they taking so long on my order?

EDIT: Talked to customer service and found out that the Matrix 10th Anniversary blu-ray is on backorder and that's holding it up.

How many did you trade in? I traded in 4 of the Harry Potter movies that I had in HD-DVD format. I sent the covers in the day after this thread was posted.
