Hi I'm new here.....first post
My Seagate hdd has died, the pcb on it has burnt.....no harm has been made to the drive itself as I got to it before it cooked it too much. What I'm wondering is that if I exchange the pcb with the same model...but differen't drive capacity...in this case a ST320011A....with a ST340016A, I'm very sure that the same drive model and drive capacity will work, though I'd rather get a better drive as mentioned. Will it work?...or is there a rom on the pcb, that wouldn't recognise the new drive? I'm very sure the logic board is the same design layout in all of the Seagate Barracuda ATA IV 7200 rpm model's. Can anyone confirm this?
Any help appreciated or views on the subject.
Thanks
